and... how the devil does the discovery scanner work. It just makes a michael bay sound and nothing seems to happen ?

Discovery scanner scans things to about 300 light-seconds out or so in Supercruise, so fly around an unexplored system, look for planets and get in close while honking your Reaper horn. Then point your nose at them and hit Y and you'll start individually scanning them with the onboard scanner in the bottom left of the screen.

It depends, they can't say either way at the moment. They need to wait to see how the Gamma plays out and what might need changing.

The ED party starts about 6pm and twitch stream starts about 8 I believe unless anyone knows better? Supposedly on until midnight . Nobody home to fix the game so I think its probably the best bet for tonight's entertainment.

Been playing this using an app for the pc / iPad called rocat power grid basically turns my iPad or iPhone into touch screen controls so I can assign buttons such as landing gears, scope, frame drive etc... See attached screen shot to see the layout I have ( you download grids or make your own) plus it's free :-)

Yep, I was going to use Roccat power grid but now I have a x52 pro I didn't need to in the end. But I've used it for other games and it's great.

I believe if you manually wipe your save you'll always start with a free one.

FD are saying there will be a wipe at release atm as they can't be sure that there wont be.

I only had the option to start in Sidewinder.

Hehe, try trading in the asp for a sidewinder, should net you a tidy profit for early game exploring.

You won't have enough cash to cover the insurance otherwise...

Is there any way to scroll the info display on the system map with the pad? Can't see any option at the moment.

You can edit the pad keybinds in the options, there are multiple presets too.

I see that, but don't see anything for the galaxy map beyond moving around. Nothing about scrolling the info panel. I'm currently set to Control Pad with Yaw.

On a related note, I remember people saying you could set a pad button as a modifier that affects various other buttons, all nicely configurable. Still looking for that.

All I've basically done since four is a few of the tutorials and then scroll around the map because I'm a big star geek.
