xenoblade was pretty but the cut-scenes and the lack of freedom was crushing. Typical Nintendo-esque RPG. You can't do what you want at all. Skyrim was a proper RPG. Flawed but really held my attention. Xenoblade was boring.

While you couldn't actually do much bar explore the entire gameworld from just about the beginning, either killing stuff or collecting stuff (or killing stuff to collect stuff), what exactly did you want to do but couldn't? In that it's a JRPG it's got that usual lack of freedom in that you're not really doing much in the way of role playing in terms of who your character is, what they do and how they do it, but then that's kind of like criticising OutRun 2 for not letting you tweak the cars - it just is what it is.

I didn't enjoy it at all. I really, really, really wanted to. :(

The characters were shit. I didn't feel like killing giant crabs for four horrific hours either.

Outrun's a pure arcade game. You see what you get with that. Xenoblade was the opposite.

Too much freedom is what made me dislike Elder Scrolls, I prefer a balance (and to me, 3D Zelda sometimes has enough of it...not including the linear rubbish of Skyward Sword of course).

People will obviously prefer different things. I doubt we complained much about traditional linear JRPG's with loads-oh-grinding back in the day.

I played Affordable Space Adventures for an hour or so this evening. I'm not sure that I like it yet. It's all a bit fiddly, and I find switching back and forth between the two screens pretty jarring. I'm only on level 12, however, so I'll give it time.

Has anyone else played it after picking out up in the recent humble bundle?

I played it and couldn't see what the fuss was about. I agree that the shifting back and forth didn't really work that well. I was pretty dissapointed by all those games. I played Swords and Soldiers 2 a bit and that was pretty average. Runbow was probably one of the worst games I've ever played.

Quick question..... if I buy a download version of a game to replace the disc version, will my current game save just work?

My son's copy of Lego City Undercover no longer loads (think the disc is knackered) so I was going to but another copy of it but the download is only a couple of £'s more expensive so might just get that instead, but I wouldn't want him to lose his 300hrs save game.

I did. It's bloody great, although I can see it probably makes more sense in multiplayer. I generally found if you're finding it very fiddly to progress, you're probably using the wrong solution.

It does with Lego City.

How does the co-op work, one does the flying the other does the dashbaord stuff? The constant back and forth of attention when playing alone is a bit tedious, in that it makes it very stop-start.

I finished ASA recently but didn't rate it at all. Fiddly and frustrating more often than not with only a handful of puzzles I actually enjoyed. Disappointing after all I'd read about it. I'd be fuming if I'd paid full price for it.

It's up to three player. One does piloting, one engine, the other scanning (I think).

Thats a shame. It was my GOTY of 2015. I thought the controls and premise were spot on. The presentation put most games to shame too. The last few levels and the pay-off were so well written IMO.
