Hmm, I hope it's not too accessible. Seeing a beautiful woman in the trailer was a bit worrying, Souls games are about gruff beardy men and horrible witches.

No! It's about malnourished weaklings barely able to defend themselves and - just about - surviving impossible odds.

I think (though I don't know) Skyrim's all gruff beardy men. I thought the woman was a bit worrying too though.

Part of whats so great about Demons/Dark is how the threads for both games are mostly tales of people helping people out, or people explaining how something works to someone else. In that regards i think its a masterstroke to be completely vague about things as it brings people together trying to figure out all the games little secrets.

I really wouldnt expect from to go down the route of giant flashing 'FOLLOW' icons and 'walk down this linear corridor and look at these amazing setpieces weve designed' bullshit, but if they want to make it more accessible i guess they could make things just a tad more straightforward, but not much. enough to make the babies stop crying while the real men get on with praising the sun.

Obviously it's a bit of guesswork and grounded in not much but when I saw the pretty lady, I didn't think of a spider witch or the chamber of the princess, I thought of more typical RPG ladies that need saving from Ganondorf or whatever else you might like to throw out.

Dark Souls is full of sorrow and sadness to me, it feels like a sad world. That trailer felt like there was triumph in the air (aside from the arrows). Dark Souls feels like there's certain doom in the air and that even if you do prevail, in ten seconds the light will be switched off again. And there are traps around you. And when it's really dark there are some falls from the rocks.

Too early to say obviously, but put me in the hopeful rather than optimistic camp, I love Dark Souls and would happily buy the same game again with different locations and bosses.

EDIT: I'm surprised how many people are into this btw. I didn't realise so many had play Dark Souls here and I wouldn't have thought it was front cover material for Edge either, I thought Dark Souls was something of a niche product, I'm now concerned about a play for the mainstream's affections. :(

Souls is one set of games where helping one another in a thread or reading up in a wiki isnt really cheating or shortcutting - the games are so complex -and, as Brer says, vague- its really part of the whole experience. Often they open up parts of the game.

Added to that, the way the game mechanics work means telling someone how to do something doesn't necessarily mean that can actually do it :D

I dunno, the old Dark Souls Edge cover was one of my faves.

FROM should include warnings like "YOU ARE NOW LEAVING THE BATTLEFIELD" throughout the game. The twist is that the only way forward is to ignore them and keep going!

Did anyone think that maybe From announcing an easymode and more approachable game could be some meta-level trolling by them?? Were already being trolled before even playing the game!

I suspect it'll have a normal mode which will be, as per usual, well 'ard and a "Gozzy McSpazhands" mode.

If that is true then I hope all achievemnets/trophies are locked for anything other than 'normal' difficulty.
