The Rllmuk Metal Thread Part 2

Transient Curse

It's ok. I liked their previous single a lot more. The mix seems a bit off with the vocals being low in particular.

This is my new (summer) jam! Dat solo.

Somehow I completely missed Intervals' new album. I was a bit bummed out when they announced they had parted ways with their vocalists and weren't planning on getting a replacement and thus going back to their instrumental roots. Considering their one and only non-instrumental album was surprisingly great it's safe to say my excitement levels were rather low for any new material. Anyway they released a new album last December and as it turns out it's actually quite good!

Heres some tunes I liked recently. Gonna give the new Megadeth a spin soon too. They sure divide opinion in what they do these days.

Editorial: The Metal Community Must Stop Letting Phil Anselmo Off the Hook for His Racist Remarks

It’s time for us all to stop taking it easy on Phil Anselmo.

Yesterday, a YouTube user named Chris R. posted the below video footage online. It was filmed at this year’s edition of Dimebash, which took place this past Friday night, January 22 in Los Angeles. Chris admitted that he “originally cut this” part of the footage, but ultimately decided to post it because “people deserve to see this.”

Anselmo subsequently responded thusly:

Screen-Shot-2016-01-28-at-9.26.28-AM.png

Okay. So Anselmo was joking! He’s not a racist! Hell, he said “These days, I wouldn’t want anything to fucking do with” the Confederate flag less than a year ago! So it’s all good… right?

Well, not really. Because let’s be real: this is not the first time Anselmo has pulled a stunt like this.

For example: the following speech from a show in 1995, in which the singer claims not to be racist before making a series of racist remarks (“Tonight is a white thing”). It’s incredibly disturbing, not just because of the

sentiment, but because there’s a certain sick, backwards logic to Anselmo’s remarks; it’s easy to see how a kid who looks up to Anselmo, or an adult who just isn’t very good at thinking for himself, might hear this and think it makes sense. What’s wrong with whites taking pride their own cultural heritage, right?

More after the clickity click.

Cradle of Filth were doing something similar when Caroline Campbell was in the band playing keyboards (from about 3:30). I don't really like the Filth, but I know Caroline quite well so followed this period of the band a little bit.

Only just seen that Anselmo video and honestly, is anyone surprised? Pantera have always been on the white trash end of the scale. His explanation is pathetic too, he should have just owned his actions and stood by them, if he's going to do it in a public place.

Never truly understood the disdain for rap/hip-hop from the bro-metal genre of Pantera. I think i'm preaching to the converted in here as good music in every genre, is still good music. I don't like reading interviews by bands as i'm never really interested in hearing what they say, unless its about music and influences. Usually the guys who are creating the best stuff have the most varied interests and not just one small sub-genre of metal.

Fuck Pantera.

Has anyone looked around the Peel archive website? Its got a section where artists list influential records which they can find when going through John Peel's record collection. Here is Shane Embury from Napalm Death

I was pretty taken aback by the Slade track.

Not metal as such (well, just straight up not metal I guess) but Greg Puciato of The Dillinger Escape Plan has teamed up with Josh Eustis (Puscifer/Telefon Tel Aviv) and Steven Alexander ("Has worked on lots of things") to create this rad synth/new romantic monster:

It's also about two quid.

Fuck Pantera.

Wasnt it just last year he was denouncing their past use of the Confederate flag? Seems a bit of a step back there!

(Soz Vn1X totally skipped your detailed post the other day somehow. ) that speech Anselmo he makes, fucking hell.

Count me out :) gonna stick some Machine head on today.
