I fucking love this thread. I might not be into all the music that's posted here, but gosh darn, I do love how broad the heavy music canvas is.

Certainly it's the near-equivalent of a friend coming round, armed with a copy of the Dillinger Escape Plan's 'Under the Running Board' EP and before hearing a single note, thinking it was going to be in the vein of Quicksand or Far - and then aural chaos bled from the speakers at a ridiculous level and I was hooked immediately.

Hear hear!

And on that note something I discovered which usually isn't exactly up my alley: Allfather - Bless the Earth With Fire

A lot of this stuff sounds like if you took a hardcore vocalist from the early 2000s and put him over super sludgey stuff. It’s definitely not for everyone, and if you’re a fan of lighter sludge like The Sword and Baroness, then you will be disappointed. However, if you’re down to get grimey and dirty and really don’t give a damn about how it sounds but about how heavy it is, then this record is definitely for you. It’s definitely been on regular rotation for me since I got it. I do have to say though, that the vocals are definitely an acquired taste, and I urge you to give the album at least one listen before having a verdict, because it’s well worth your time. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Bandcamp and be sure to grab their album when it drops!

I didn't really get on with this at first but after a few listens found it rather enjoyable. They got dat Kvelertak tone dude.

A buddy of mine from Germany just sent me a couple of YT links to some prog-death/doomy type bands.  You kids might already have heard them. The first lot are from Russia so he tells me. They're pretty diggable if you like Opeth and such, and certainly good enough to tempt me into buying an album -

Vektor are fantastic. Saw them in the Underworld before Christmas and they were superb. Incidentally their drummer plays one of the strangest kit layouts I've ever seen (his high tom is to the left of, and level with, his snare).
