Sorry Koala, hope you didn't want a calendar! Postage costs would have been even worse.

I didn't see it on the main page as I had to order the 3DS by clicking through the link on the email.

No probs mate. Dunno where I would've hung the thing. By the time my mancave is complete we're probably 2025 anyway.

For anyone interested I did the full online transfer last night from my XL to the New 3DS. It took approx 6 - 8 hours for the system and approx 10GB of SD card data.

Those poor Pikmin must be knackered.

So to transfer, I assume you need two SD cards, two units...is that it? Is it over Wi-fi?

Can just transfer the 'system rights' or whatever, and then download the actual digital games later? I suppose you'd lose saves though...

You've got three options:

- Transfer the whole lot over Wi-Fi (slow but straightforward)

- Transfer the usage rights by Wi-Fi and then copy the actual data (games and saves) from one SD card to another using a PC

- Just transfer the usage rights and re-download your games as and when you want

I did the second and it was a bit fiddly swapping everything around but it didn't take too long. Transferring by Wi-Fi is massively slower.

I transferred my games (almost 40GB of them) from SDXC card to micro SDXC card this morning (used some shitty online guide), then put the micro SDXC card in a microSD to SD adapter in my "old" 3DS.

When my new New 3DS arrived I did the "Transfer rights via Wifi but data via SD" option, which took about 15 minutes. Longest bit was copying the DSiWare games from system memory to the SD on my old 3DS and back into system memory on my new one.
