The New 3DS XL on Amazon.fr has gone down in price again for some reason. 181,42 euro or 187,40 delivered. Which translates to £140.49 delivered when I checked just now thanks to Euro losing value.

Nearly £40 cheaper than Amazon.co.uk

Viva la France!

I think you'll find it's "Vive la France!"; viva is specifically Spanish, Italian or Portuguese.

Sorry.

Exactly, I'd presume that would go down far better with non mh players. The exact players who a demo should be aimed at.

There's obviously a reason mh is so popular and I've been willing twice to give it a go. Unfortunately I've come away thinking meh.

Anyway this wasn't a mh rant, rather one at the availability of demos. Just make them free to all for goodness sake.

I'm a bit of a MH novice, and I bloody love the demo! Of course I had to take a look at some in-depth tutorials on youtube first to get any idea of how this is meant to be played properly, but that's pretty much par for the course with a game like this.

It looks lovely for a 3DS game but it still controls like arse. I remain completely puzzled why people can pump hundreds of hours into it.

I bought Shin Megami Tensei IV yesterday though and I really like it so far. The 'are you sure?' dialogues are annoying, but I like the setting, and it has some interesting parallels with the Persona games. I did get absolutely slaughtered in my third or fourth battle, so I'm going to have to be a bit more careful in future.

.

Nah this is the standard complaint from someone who hasnt played it enough, the controls are amazing, MH is not a button mashing game it's about using weapons with weight and spotting openings in the monsters attacks. The controls are a big part of why people love it so much.

Game put the MH bundle price up, but pre orders get it at original price. Phew!

They've also put up the price of all their cover plates from £10.99 to £14.99. Looks like price gauging of cover plates and Amiibos should help their profitability this year.

I haven't got any problem with the controls - in MH3 it was the UI that made me want to punch my own face off iirc, which was a deal-breaker for me in a game where you are expected to spend a lot of time arsing about in menus.

I gave up on the Wii U version after literally 5 to 10 minutes play because I couldn't read the pathetically small font that everything was written in, so had no chance of being able to follow the dialogue or what was going on. :( Shame, as it looks such an engrossing game once, or if, you get into it.

This is so shit

Fuckin scalpers buying these things in bulk and letting the rest of us pay extortionate prices if we have the misfortune to want one as well. That glo-in-the-dark boo cover plate is going for $40 already.

Does that apply to store pre orders as well? I got a price promise email on the wood effect plates, but haven't heard back from the store about them honouring the original price on the console. :(

Not sure if this was already mentioned in the thread (maybe a SMT specific thread) but Shin Megami Tensei IV is on sale for £11.69 until 29th January.

Given that I'm not getting my new 3DS until February and have no intention of playing anything on my old one, is there any point in me buying this? Am I going to be able to transfer it easily enough onto the new one? I've no idea how Nintendo transfers work. The new 3DS has Monster Hunter 4 preinstalled. Does this mean it comes with a code, or installed on an SD card, and will transferring my old stuff onto the new one wipe the MH4 installation? Why the fuck don't they just have an account system? Aaaaaaaargh.

Thanks. So as long as I transfer the contents of my old 3ds onto the new one without creating a new account on the new one, the content of both systems should merge and all I have to do is re-download MH4? Pretty scary that if you absent-mindedly create a new account on the new system, then do the transfer, you just lose your copy of MH4.

Makes me wonder if Game send the 3DS out a few days early, we do the transfer and it wipes MH then go to the eshop it might not let us DL it until the release date. I might just buy a hard copy as well just in case.

Ack, I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if it's possible to transfer game data onto another SD card, then do a transfer, then move the data back onto the new SD card (instead of re-downloading).

...It's a poor demo, imo...

...The best demo I've played of recent times was bravely default. It was available to all. I ended up buying it, and I don't even like jrpgs that much!

See I thought BD demo was tedious and MH4U demo is brilliant. Each to their own and that.

Ooh another Cave Story newbie! Word of advice, there are different 'endings' of the game based on what you do at specific points. They're not signposted either. If it doesn't bother you, fair enough, but if it does (I was pissed off) check out a FAQ before you get too far.

Picked up cave story. Remember hearing about it on here. Looks promising. Got the Phoenix Wright game too. Any other gems I might be missing?

What other games do you have on 3DS, and what genres do you enjoy/dislike?

Not that it's particularly relevant to me, as the only other games I can personally recommend on 3DS would be the Sega 3D Classics and Fire Emblem: Awakening, all of which are ace.

I'd genuinely recommend the Sega 3D Classics, as mentioned above (it's not just me being weird, they are generally very well regarded conversions of some classic games); particularly Afterburner and Galaxy Force (and hoping for the upcoming Outrun to live up to the rest), which work perfectly with the 3DS's 3D while also being really enjoyable into-the-screen shooters.

Other than that, you've got a pretty solid selection already. I take it you've already played the previous Phoenix Wrights? If not you should probably download the original Trilogy first and play through them, as they're a) brilliant, and b) influence the most recent game a lot. On the other hand, if you have already played them you might want to consider giving the Phoenix Wright/Layton crossover, but you can certainly wait until you've played through Dual Destinies before buying that! Similarly, the 3DS Kirby is good fun, but with all the games you've already listed left to play through you hardly need be in a rush to pick it up!

(The only other thing that might be worth considering would be picking up Shin Megami Tensei IV - though you're already all set for RPGing with Bravely Default, it might be worth grabbing it now as it's currently on offer on the eshop, and discounts don't come around all that often. Though it's a very particular breed of JRPG, so it might be worth reading up on it first to check it sounds like something you might enjoy!)
