Before I go and order it, is this micro SD card compatible with the new 3DS?

Yes.

I haven't owned a Nintendo handheld since the DS. Is now as good a time as any to get one of these new 3DS consoles?

Is the XL the one to go for? I couldn't find much info comparing the two.

Thanks!

They're the same only the XL is more expensive, bigger, and has better battery life.

I find the XL too big.

Ok cool.

So there's no change in resolution or anything like that with the XL? That's good to hear.

Think I'll get the normal one. I wouldn't have been interested but I just saw that Majoras Mask is coming out - I never even got a quarter of the way through that game on the 64 but just the mere mention of the name sends me back on the strongest nostalgia trip possible.

It's a must buy for me.

For what it's worth, SMT isn't much like Persona - the latter is a spin-off of the former series created to take it in a pretty different direction; the main shared feature is the fusing of beings to fight with, but otherwise the focus (and the way you go about accumulating said beings) is very different. There's none of the social levelling aspects to SMT and it's a lot... colder in terms of narrative. Meanwhile the dungeons are more developed and the in-battle recruitment of demons is a major mechanic. I'd say I prefer Persona 4, but they're very different games - you won't get the same exhaustion you might get if you went straight from P4 to P3 (as I did), as the two series stand apart.

Are the face/back plates on the New 3DS easy to attach/remove? I keep thinking of the GB Micro, but it appears from the new 3DS images that you'll need a screwdriver for the Back Plates at least?

Yeah you do need a small screwdriver but they are very easy really.

Only thing is you do need the 'right size' screwdriver or its easy to thread.

Question: I've got the Animal Crossing 3DS and moving to the States soon. I know I won't be able to play US carts on it, but assuming I dont fuck about with the settings, I'll still be able to use the UK e-shop, yes?

You can do what you like with any settings, the eShop you access is tied to the region the console came from.

Holy crap, the blue New XL is fit! It's shiny and everything:

It'll be good to not have the volume slider on the left, right where your palm rests tbh...

How is that person taking that picture? With a GoPro? It's looks like they've got the camera attached to their head...

Actually, here's a thought - I would be buying my new 3ds in Germany - does that mean I'm tied to the German store? Or is it a European store?

You can select the country within the Europe/Australia region that you use for your account. A UK account would probably be the most sensible option.

I hated the telescopic stylus. Having to erm, erect it(?) when you wanted to use it every time was annoying.

It was easier to slide back into the hole (f'nar) too, since you could rotate it when almost fully docked to make the top bit fit properly. You can't with the new one - if it's the wrong way round you have to take it out and put it back in.

The main reason I'm going for the New XL is because the regular size was very uncomfortable to hold with certain games. Because it has a stick and a d-pad on the front and not much room for support, it made my hand ache after a while. The XL is fine though, pushes into my palm a bit more and it's lovely to hold.

Only negative thing I can come up with about my New 3DS is the stylus is cheap and plasticy. The old 3DS one is metallic and telescopic :(

I've rarely found myself using the stylus with the 3DS (XL). But when I do it's always with the king of all Nintendo Styli - the DSXL one.

Not the best for carrying around, admittedly...
