Synopsis: Julian (Gosling) lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation. When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Kristen Scott Thomas), arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer. Julian’s contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher. Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly.

A very rough and very short teaser:

Drive was one of the best films of 2011 and the world and story of Only God Forgives looks potentially just as interesting.

Gimme gimme gimme! Looks stunning!

I always get wary when a film features strip joint sets. Gosling is pretty cool though and am sure it will be tasteful but the trailer has made me cautious.

Why? The strip joint in Drive was handled brilliantly.

1080p version

The beautiful, haunting song from the trailer:

http://youtu.be/bNgaYvsSkww

Tur-kue-kwam-fun
You are my dream

Tur-kue-kwam-fun, Nai-Chai-Chun
You are my dream, in my heart

piang-kwam-fun-tee-san-klai
A dream, a faraway dream

Dung-kwa-dao-bon-fah-klai Mai-mon-chai-cha-qua
like catching a star in the deep sky, I'm not sure I can catch it

Preab-dung-dog-mai-hang-kwam-hwang
like a flower of hope

mee-kwam-fun-tee-kwang-yai
having a big dream

haag-mae-tur-piang-kao-chai
if you just understand

chan-mon-chai-saag-one
I'm sure one day...

cha-long-kwai-kwa-ha-come-tob
I'll try to find the answer

fun-kong-jing-saak-krung
I wish dream will come true just once

cha-mee-kwam-rug-hi-tur-yang-ha-cry-ma-preab-muean
I'll give you my love like no other

cha-long-kwai-kwa-ha-come-tob
I'll try to find the answer

fun-kong-jing-saag-krung
I wish dream will come true just once

cha-mee-kwam-rug-hi-tur-yang-ha-cry-ma-preab-muean
I'll give you my love like no other

mae-tar-me-tur-you
just I got you

me-piang-rao-song-rug-gun-you-kaang-kiang-gun-sa-mure
there will be us, loving and standing side by side

nai-chai-luem-plure-la-mure-tuen
but I'm daydreaming

fun-young-coin-log-lon
my dream keeps haunting me

hi-chai-me-tae-tur
you are in my every single breath

mae-mai-me-tur-you
even you're not here

Anyone else think this is one of the best trailers they've seen for a long time?

I was just thinking this. My answer, yes... by a long shot.

Just jaw droppingly brilliant. The composition of the editing, the song, the choice of dialogue. I can't fault it. You watch it and you want to see the film regardless of reviews.

It's remarkable. I was taken aback by it. That bit where the womans hands move back on her thighs, drawing her dress up slightly, and you see his hands curl into loose fists....amazing.

The last is superior. This doesn't have the pacing, the flair and it shows a few little flashes which reveal too much.

The second trailer is practically perfect; it's beautiful, it gives you flavour of all the elements of the film and it doesn't tell you much of anything.

The lighting in this film is going to be ridiculously good judging by these trailers.

Well they certainly seem to be getting their money's worth; they shot on location in Bangkok's Chinatown at night, and apparently ran up quite a bill keeping the neon signs turned on after hours.
