It was inevitable I guess, but a little sad too really. Don’t get me wrong, I’m perfectly happy to have more Witcher, but I think this is clearly not what they wanted to do so soon. I suspect if they’d held off that launch of Cyperpunk until right about now things would be very different indeed.

I don't agree - given their involvement in the Witcher lore etc through the games I think their heart's much more in it than Cyberpunk. Either way I'm very much looking forward to it. They can take as long as they like though :)

This will probably be a prequel, taking place when the cat school actually existed. A chance also to meet a younger Geralt as NPC. It’s clear why they chose the cat school: it was the school which allowed women to take the trial of the grasses, hence players can create a female Witcher if they want.

Also, their main base was actually a caravan, so a perfect choice for moving around the land doing contracts etc.

CDPR delays the next-gen update of Witcher 3 indefinitely.

We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice.

Oof. Just what is going on at that company?

I was looking forward to this, post-ER.

According to some reports, the updates were being done by a Russian team, and presumably they wanted to shuffle away from this for obvious reasons.

However, whether that’s true is decidedly moot when it’s come from an unofficial source on the internet!

This will be the case!
The team doing this port were Saber Interactive Russia, the same team that did the Switch version of Witcher 3.

The updated next-gen version is releasing 14th December

I’ve been waiting to curiously see what happens with this and the Xbox version, as the current one is the only console version with a 60 fps toggle.

Interesting to see if that version is basically erased by this on Series X

Yay. Great timing. I was about to flip a coin whether I should start Assassin's Creed Odyssey or Valhalla. Decision made.

Same for me. Crashing to the end of DQ XI and I haven't played the original 2 DLCs yet as my son overtook me and I saw him play them. Forgotten it all now though so can go in fresh. Christmas gaming sorted!

really pleased to see that content is coming out for the switch - the port there was superb.  Sure, it's a bit patchy graphically in places - but I still find the switch as the ideal platform for time sink games like this.

I presume, because you can play the console in handheld mode?

exactly... the steam deck would be even better because graphics are better, but I've had to put that purchase on hold for now because funds.

Sitting on the couch, plane or train playing these massive big games works better for me than having to dominate the big screen for 200 odd hours.

Yeah, I was curious as I should use my Switch a bit more in Handheld.
Almost wish I didn't know about the different profiles it uses in haldheld and docked...

I never played the expansions but smashed the main game.   I reckon it’s time to remedy that,

The DLCs are probably the best DLCs ever made for any game anywhere. Awesome is not the word.

Shiiit. Bet they’ll have no whiff of being on sale between now and the update.

Honestly I'm amazed at how many people still haven't picked the bloody thing up - they've been on (seemingly) constant sale since forever!

Game of year edition. £7 on Xbox store. Includes all dlc.

And for that price, it's game of the century!

Far and away the best bang for buck you'll ever have.

(And that's saying nothing about all the actual banging you'll probably be doing in the game - Geralt is a filthy, filthy swine).

I gotten my hands on a Steam Deck today and I notice that The Witcher 3 is down to £4.99 on Steam. Which is the best handheld way to play this on the Deck, buying the Steam version, or streaming the Xbox version which I already own? I have no plans on playing away from home.

Native on Steam Deck I'd reckon.
