Are you connected via a PSVR breakout box or anything? Direct connection to the TV?

it's going to a hdmi switch, good thinking, i'll try it straight into the tv.

looking into it more it doesn't seem like an overheating problem, it's just odd that it happens after a certain amount of time.

not sure why the text was small!

Happy Eighth Birthday! (tomorrow)

Still my main console - here is another video of games that I have enjoyed playing this year. Pre-ordered that Elden Ring so I'll be here again next year too.

Playlist of all previous yearly roundup videos here

What’s the last game with the big black face and the character falling, Jimmy?

Awesome @MW_Jimmy; I always like these montages. For a while I wondered if you were going to move on to "year 1" of one of the new-gen consoles, but there's still plenty to enjoy on PS4. :)

I haven't got a PS5 and no plans to pick one up anytime soon. I'm fairly sure I'll keep this going at least until the 10 years are finished.

As I haven't been day one on next gen I'll probably then rename them as year roundups and probably a mixture of PS4/PS5 games (as you can probably tell if you look through my yearly videos my backlog of PS4 games is huge. Really stupidly huge.)

Hi, coming in here for some advice please.

My brother in law is getting a PS4 for 2 kids (boy age 9  & girl 11/12) and doesn't know what games to get. I've not played the PS4 for a couple of years and it's normally adult rated stuff.

I've mentioned Crash racing for them all, lego games but is there any immersive adventure game for the girl ? Current Harry Potter is rated 16 so that's out of the question.

My sister in law has mentioned Brady Quest and Gang Beasts for the lad and they are looking at Sonic racing for them all.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Dumb question but why the PS4 now? Is it cost or tech related cos if its the latter a Switch would be better for the kids or a PS5 for the long term.

Otherwise maybe check out stuff like Horizon and that Ubisoft knock off of BOTW? Dragon Quest Builders maybe?

I'm not a 100%. I think that's what the kids want, plus also cost i think. The parents aren't and have never been gamers so they'll just be steered by the kids.

Horizon is rated as 16 so they won't buy that.

These are what my kids have played

Minecraft

Terraria

Lego Games

Spyro Dragon

Crash Bandicoot

Rayman Legends

Overcooked

Spider-Man

Knack

Stardew Valley

Dragon Quest Builders

Lego Games - there are tons of these!

Rocket League

Fortnite

Genshin Impact

& lots more, you have a massive catalogue for kids to enjoy on the PS4.

So, my brother in law bought my ex-girlfriends PS4 a year or two ago

When I got my PS5 I gave him my PS4pro (eventually).

He’s just given me the PS4 from the first paragraph

Just been cleaning it up, does anyone else think this lump, on the right hand side, seem a bit weird? Or is that present on every ps5?

The PlayStation team are so bad at industrial design. You think they’d get some better people in, seeing as it’s the most profitable arm of Sony. Either that or they think gamers are less discerning customers, so the PS division is where the juniors start out.

I’ve put a 1tb ssd in this bad boy… plan is to use it in the games room and keep the PS5 under the main telly

Can anyone recommend a cheap third party PS4 controller (and one that'll work as such on a PS5?) I think I'm entertaining some friend's kids over Xmas with local multiplayer stuff, and I don't really want to have to blow the full £50(!) on a DS4 if I can avoid it.

I bought this cheap wired one for Tetris and passed it on to my son, it suits his little hands perfectly (though lacks gyro stuff I think)

It seems there is a slightly different model on the market now.
