How far is your local depot from you ? Can't you pick it up later on this evening ?

Phoned but they could only tell us it was still on the road.. Kept tracking the order via the site, but it only updated that it was returned to the depot (and which depot) at 5:28..

Immediately went to find out when the depot closes for the day...5:30 :(

On the upside - the HDMI switch I forgot needed and ordered off ebay ~yesterday~ arrived, no problems!

I'm not sure how the game patches are working yet, instead of downloading and installing before the game loads - like it used to - the patch just downloads in the background while the game launches itself and carries on in ignorance of the need for any updates. I had to look at my download list and apply the update manually. Am I missing something embarrassingly obvious?

Had a mooch around town (that being Tunbridge Wells) today at lunchtime to see what I could see. If I saw a console at £350 I may of been tempted. Alas it was not to be.

Sony may sell their console at £350, but obtain "just the bloody console" is quite tricky. Popped into GAME, where usually just stepping into it reacts someone to dispense to your position and ask you if you need any help. Not today, everyone had vanished.

Their PS4 section was incredibly complex, no real clear pricing, lots of small text with BIG prices on them. I could roughly work out the cheapest was over £500 with the dreaded bundles, ones carefully constructed where you get something you want with maybe one game you want, but about 1 or 2 other shit ones, and a Blu-Ray film (why bother). No idea if they had any in stock anyway, about 3 or 4 punters just milling around looking lost. Embarrising.

Not as bad as HMV next door though, I've no idea why they bothered. Again no one around, unless you queued up to ask at the counter. Their section just said "coming soon" and even some of the games just had stickers on them saying "Pre-order - coming soon".

All in all, console launches really are now in the domain of the home users and internet sites, the wanton lack of, well anything, on the high street means that I'll probably pick one up whenever I chance upon one, probably via Argos who are the only ones on the high street with clear cut offers that aren't a rip-off.

Quick question to the wise. If you create a new PSN account do you get a month PLUS action for free?

I think you have to quit the game and restart it, it won't let you do it when it's running.

Bloody hell - that Killzone title screen its quite something - that lovely pan. Not seen anything like that rendered in real time before.

Such great times await - although i can't access the store.

I'm pretty excited - i didn't realise Carmageddon's coming back (By Stainless!), EDF returns, etc, etc, etc.

It weirdly feels like it did when i got my Playstation.

So in my excitement someone tweeted me a clip of the Rocky steps scene, which I played three times back to back at full volume. Bit embarrassing when my DPD driver Rocky turned up at the back door and must have heard the music blaring out. He handled it like a pro though. Powerful Rocky.

I did pop into my local Game today, just to see the show. However, obviously the long waits caused some excited gamers to shit themselves. I have never, never smelt a store so bad. And I'm including CEX in the old days in that assessment.

It wasn't good.
