PlayStation 4 Console Thread

Oh my, coming from 360 Battlefield to PS4 Battlefield is staggering!! Everything is so smooth and pretty! It epic when you're in big firefights with explosions going off, really jaw dropping.

Also amazed by how quick everything is, pretty cool how quickly you can start playing whilst it finishes the installs in the background.

One problem I had though is playing Blurays. For a start it just says "Blu ray disc" when I enter one, rather than showing the name of the disc like the PS3 does. Is this right?

Also, does anyone have X-Men First Class on blu ray? (It's the UK triple play edition if that matters).

It loads up the 20th century fox logo, then gets part way through the X-Men intro/menu titles and craps out. Just sort of hangs there doing nothing and with a black screen.

I tried Toy Story 3 afterwards and that worked fine. It does seem slow to load up the disc though, has a black screen for longer than ..

I'll try my copy of it in a while and report back the results.

It's the most disappointing game I've played so far in regard to its looks. It's a little bit last gen. Frame rate isn't fantastic either.

I hear it plays great at least and it will be shiny enough, I enjoyed Most Wanted and this is meant to be much better.

Just had my first game on BF4... Amazing!! It blows away the 360 version, the controller with it's short L3/R3 clicks feels perfect, I do not like the clicks on the One. 64 players, the vehicles are faster, it looks amazing, boom! Already had a bit running into cap on Conquest on Flood Zone, destroyed a load of peeps and went 15-4... then I crashed :lol: I'm blaming that on DICE, not Sony though. They can do no wrong.

Make sure you enable internet in power saving options so stuff downloads in standby or you'll wake up sad.

Network seems fine now. Still only played Killzone and a tiny bit of Resogun.

Gonna do an all nighter I think!

Annoyed you can't yet pause downloads.

Absolutely blown away by every single aspect of this machine so far. Resogun is incredible. Flower stunning. NFS and Battlefield to tuck into now the network's back up.

One thing - anyone know how to get Remote Play working when your Vita is too far away from the PS4 but on the same network? Is that even possible? I can only really get it functioning when I'm in the same room, which is a bit pointless (although amazing when it works)

I was struggling for hours and then about an hour ago it all started working. It's weird seeing the PS4 menus once the network is active, there's all sorts of things appear like the iPlayer and Sony's spotify type service.

Things were a bit barren before but once I logged in it was Resogun time. It's worth persevering!

Once I got past that first troublesome PSN login I've been able to sign in instantly. Presumably there's some kind of account conversion/transferral process that is causing the bottleneck, so it'll probably be fine when the initial rush is over.

Thanks m8. I needed a boost ;)

I was like that most of the afternoon. I unboxed it, plugged it in and the 1.51 update went so quickly and smoothly I thought "Sony have finally managed to scale their network to suit the amount of consoles".

And then I tried to do anything and it all went to shite... Even the web browser wouldn't work without signing in and I tried so many times I think I could enter my password blindfolded. Sometimes it would even look like it was going to work, and ask me my City and full name etc and then crap out. But I kept at it, (actually I left it a few hours and then tried after tea), and eventually it all worked swimmingly.

Good luck with it, it really is worth waiting for, especially if you have PS+ and download Resogun.

Actually, I tried remote play earlier and it kept disconnecting from our wifi. Anyone else had this?

I didn't have that happen at all. Mine was just a problem connecting to the store/PSN. I never saw a single wifi or local network error message.

Man. Sony really nailed game installs this time didn't they?

Does anyone know how I can limit downloading to one file at a time?

You can't afaik. I guess v2.0 firmware will add all these essential little touches back in (along with mp3 playback etc..)

Have to say I'm stupidly impressed by it all so far.

Only disappointment at the mo is EA's servers being down for NFS (which makes is most interesting features redundant)

Love the UI, the ease of access, the speed of the downloads, Resogun , the vita remote play and the twitch streaming stuff is just brilliant (even for someone that's never dabbled before)
