PlayStation 4 Console Thread

So having rebuilt the database i recorded 3 vids last night on battlefield and went to have a look at them today - none of them recorded :(

I have 3 screenshots but no video at all - just to confirm that all you have to do to get the last 15 mins is to enter the upload menu, not actually upload, and go back to game as that is what i did and sure it has worked in the past?

I know its a first world problem and i love my PS4 but the video thing is really pissing me off that its not working properly :(

I think it depends on your share settings, but isn't setting a start point for video done by double-tapping the share button?

I am not wanting the start now, i am after the 'record last 15 mins' and mine is setup for 1 push for screenshot, hold for upload menu and double for start.

I don't get how they could have broken the video sharing so badly. It's not like they're having to do anything computationally complicated. It's literally taking a video feed and storing it. A great feature when it works right.

The left analogue stick on my controller is starting to peel/shred. Do I just phone Sony about it?

Happy to send it back as I have another pad but it's pretty annoying.

Also, to anyone that's received a replacement pad, do the sticks feel different? Not sure I can be arsed if the replacement will be the same in a few months.

Given the prevelance of the reports, I suspect it's a general design flaw rather than a bad batch, so until they fix the problem altogether I think it will keep reocurring. Those Grip It stick covers I mentioned a few pages back work really well if you don't want to return your controller.

I know it's hassle but the more people that send them back to Sony the better informed Sony will be about the failure rate and MAYBE adjust manufacturing?

Two release day pads here, standard PS4 bundle plus one bought at Gamestop, used by myself & son on a daily basis. Neither showing any wear as yet so there could well be a faulty batch of pads out there.

I've not played mine LOADS but I've 99%'ed AssCreed 4 and got up to 124 days in Don't Starve and all the attempts it took to get there, finished all of the racers missions in NFS and 1/2 the cop missions and some other bits and bobs like some Resogun and a bit of Contrast / flower and both of my sticks are fine...

I'm probably jinxing it but it always makes me wonder what people do to their controllers. A mate of mine totally wore one of his 360 thumbsticks down from playing Trials for ages but the worst I've ever done to my 360 ones is wear off the 'nubs' that are on the 360 controllers.

Sorry, that sounds a bit wanky but it does surprise me.

I've put in 150 hours just on Battlefield 4 MP and my controller looks brand new and plays no different. Stop chewing on them you animals.

Mine was fine too back in the olden days of just 150 hours of Battlefield. ;)

270 hours on BF4 now (I must actually be addicted or something...). It's only the left stick that shows wear - probably because it's the one you press for sprinting. My 7 year old Xbox 360 pad's sticks look and feel the same as they did when new.

This is also in addition to the fact that I've had to remove the bumper button on my DS4 a couple of times when it's started to stick.

I just think that, nice as it is, it's not as sturdy as the Xbox pads.

My 6 year old Xbox left thumbstick is worn absolutely smooth, all the nibs are completely gone.

I find I'm paranoid about the DS4 because of these issues but no issues yet after plenty of gameplay.

You should get out more ;) i am up to 140 hours but i think 30 of those were on ps3, unless it separates them but both my sticks are fine - both L1 & R1 buttons have got sticky issues but cleaning them as per the youtube vids seems to sort them!

You sir are a legend, i was feeling guilty about how much i have put in but now i know i don't play it enough - shall sneak an hour in later, to test the sticks...

Woah there mister! You did what?

Cumulative?

No that was one go. Although ended up getting stuck on an almost endless loop of going into the caves and dying and then building meat effigies before going in to collect the stuff I was carrying and died, then finally got rinsed by loads of hounds while wearing a marble suit and being really slow before I'd grown my beard enough to make another meat effigy. Bastard hounds.

It's now a bit soul destroying to start from the start but there are certain 'tricks' I've worked out which took quite a bit of trial and error. I can put them in the relevant thread if there is one, I thought as it was a bit old in regards to it being on PC for a while already, I was late to proceedings and everyone could get that far anyway...

That 270 hours doesn't even include the 93 hours I put in on the Xbox 360 version (which probably doesn't take into account however much time I spent on the beta before that).

Somebody help me....

FIFA is the pad killer

FIFA is the little-death that brings total thumbstick obliteration.

I will face my FIFA.

I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its replacement pad.

Where the FIFA has gone there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.

And an RMA from Sony.

Have any non-FIFA players had the worn left thumbstick yet?

My one started to wear a bit thanks to Battlefield 4. I bought a pack of these and used the set of concave ones http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00GH7UA32/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are almost the exact same design as the pads on top of the 360 analogue sticks, but are a bit bigger. I actually think they make the sticks on the PS4 controller more comfortable than the 360 ones.

Some potentially good indie stuff coming this month on PS4. Prices are for PS+ then the regular price. No idea why FEZ is so expensive, anyone who really wanted it would have bought it for $2 on Steam by now so $13 is going to be quite a hard sell. I'll probably get it again when they discount it properly, though. TowerFall and SteamWorld Dig both looking nice, though TF is potentially pretty pricey too, definitely a case of launch pricing.

3/4 to 3/10 Awesomenauts Assemble (PS4) $7.99 $9.99

3/11 to 3/17 TowerFall Ascension (PS4) $11.99 $14.99

3/18 to 3/24 SteamWorld Dig (PS4)* $7.99 $9.99

3/25 to 3/31 Fez (PS4)** $9.99 $12.99

Copied from US PS Blog, hence dumb American dates.
