DRIVECLUB - being put to sleep by Sony in March 2020

Had a decent night on a couple of drift events in the Midnight tour yesterday so thought I'd upload the video. Here are 2 runs I did, the first finishes up 33rd in the world the other 22nd - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6Sjc4ENWMA

While there are fewer people on these events I'm still pretty chuffed about it and I can definitely do better.

EDIT - I have a couple of spaces left in AWOL if anyone needs a club, I think we're level 25 ish so all the car's are unlocked. I made the club open yesterday so if you search for it feel free to join, ideally someone playing regularly, skill level isn't important.

Finally got a new PS4 so I can get back into this, was really enjoying it before my PS4 broke. Just noticed my save file was not uploaded to the cloud, so time to start over. It says a lot that I don't really mind.

The more I play this the more I feel that when it comes to the actual driving mechanics, this game is far superior to Forza Horizon 2 & Forza 5, real edge of your seat stuff. project Cars has it's work cut out.

My only negative and please bear in mind gentlemen that it is just a personal opinion, but I hate drifting , thus I totally loath the drifting events.

My bane are the timed events. I am not a good enough driver to set any record and the times where I felt I was really driving well I was still three seconds behind. I'd love to be able to download ghosts data and see where I am losing too much time.

Snap! I got one for my birthday.

Its a cracking day out - I'd recommend the Ferrari or Lambo. I've got one now for a Formula single seater.

I did the formula single seater one. I'm 6ft 4 and JUST about fit in one after they took seat padding out. Absolutely amazing going round the track in it and being right on the limit of traction after you'd got a few laps in.

The weather effects in this game really are fantastic and change the way the courses feel quite significantly.

The India courses are very enjoyable and I love the look of them.

I tried turning the opacity of the UI right down, but it made no difference to the challenges whatsoever. Shame, but I'm getting used to them a bit now. Haven't managed to top many of my friends times too much, but I've mainly been gunning for McSpeed. Finding it damn hard to close in on most of P1nseekers times.

I'm glad I haven't got Meatball or Snoopzackadave on my PSN friends list or else I think I'd have broke a controller or a tooth by now.

No offence, but for me spinning out, or crashing off into the trackside like that should cancel out any points from that current drift otherwise you can just be out of control heading towards a crash but keeping on the power carrying on drifting knowing you'll still get the points anyway. Not criticising you, you're only competing against others on the leaderboard who've probably done the same, myself included, but I know of the two clips below of my own gameplay that I was much more happy with the second one...

But as others have said I also think the drifting is pretty crap so only do it to get the stars unlocked then move on.

There a couple of spaces in the team I'm part of. The other members of the team have mostly moved on and I'm looking for people to contribute to challenges. I would start my own team but we're currently something like level 16 and I did most of that! :)

On that note, any other teams that like to do challenges?

Couldn't agree more, it's a bit broken as it is but they said they're fixing it. I still enjoy it but you'll never set a high score coming out of a drift central and straight and that's a shame.

I've 3 star'd all the drifting events (brag brag) -

The trick is not to try and go too fast, ignore the speed sections pretty much altogether, and use the handbrake sparingly... (i.e. tap it for about 1 second, and then turn into the corner)

another tip is don't always try and start the drift on the "drift marker" - you can be drifting before, and sometimes after. It's tricky, but look at the corner, not the sections you're playing..

Aim to get 1000k per drift section, you can pretty much do them all if you just do a side on handbrake turn, you don't need to "keep it flowing" - etc..

Also, never ever reset your car to track, as this resets your section score [i think]

Yeah I 3 starred all the drift events. Just release R2 and hold circle down and turn and the moment the car tilts release circle, slam down on R2 and gently balance on the stick. Not to bad with some practice.

It's the races that keep doing me in, one mistake and it's all over, totally pointless.
