In the last month or so, SOE have done a great job with SWG... the POI waypoints and vehicles mean there's sooooo much to go see.

So, who's playing, and what are you doing?

I've decided to try and unlock my force slot to become a Jedi ;)

Just about to finish mastering Combat Medic.

My mate's just got to Bounty Hunter. He's had a message from the game telling him he's got to do merchant stuff to be Jedi. Which is dull, apparently.

He's loving it. It looks compulsive/dull to me.

Haha, yeah... being a merchant would suck!

This is the only game I've manage to play for longer than a couple of months. It's also my first (probably last) MMORPG I've played.

The stuff you can do is incredible, to call the whole game dull without actually playing it right now is a bit silly.

Ive just started playing this last night. Got myself a trail of 7 days then i can decide to buy the game or not. From last nights impressions im very excited about the game. My friend whos been playing for a while taught me all the basic laguages and stuff to get me started and away I went.

Did a few basic missions to get me started and got myself a few credits. Im a novice marksman and ive just got my first skill, blaster pistol i think it is (could be wrong-not 100% on all the windows yet). Im loving it!

Anyone else here play it. Fancy a meet up at some point (providing were on the same galaxy of course).

Cheers :::...

I'm on Kettemoor server... doubt you're on that though cos it's not a European server.

I've mastered Musician, Medic and Combat Medic so far. On my way to mastering Marksman right now, getting closer and closer to unlocking my force sensitive slot, I'm sure.

How long have you been playing for? Shame were not on the same server.

Since the US release. I bought two copies of the Special Edition copy for about £50 each and sold one for £170

July I think. The game has improved ten-fold since then.

Just make sure you do stuff in a group... doing everything solo can make the game pretty boring.

Do stuff in a group and it can be great fun. I've had better gaming experiences in this game then any other game I've played.

I bought the game last night. Mainly your fault Soong  After seeing this thread yesterday I looked at the SWG website and it sucked me in ... not literally, I'm a bit lardy and wouldn't have gone through the monitor.

Anyway, I picked the game up on the way home. Only managed to have time to install it, update it and create a character - Eclipse server. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to play it tonight.

Is it as simple as that, though? Maybe some people are doomed from birth to be ordinary joes, otherwise the place would be crawling with Jedi-types after a year or so...

Good luck, in any case.

Nah, it's not simple... it's a long and difficult road!

Basically, you don't just become a Jedi. You have to master certain professions, but you don't know which ones. You can loot/buy holocrons but they're rare to loot and expensive to buy (although not right now cos SOE gave everyone one free for Xmas. Well, some people got two).

You use a holocron and it tells you a profession to master, so if you have enough of them you know what to master. It'll get to a point though where the holocron will be silent, that means you have one more profession to master but you have to find out which one by yourself.

When you do this, you unlock the FS slot on your account. This is a new character that you create, who is a Jedi Initiate. You then go from there.

However! You're in the middle of the Galactic Civil War, the alliance don't take kindly to Jedi, and your character is in deeeep trouble. Show off any Jedi skills and you will become targetable by anyone. Progress up enough as a Jedi and you won't give a fuck cos you'll be as hard as hell

Im on the european chimerea server. Really is a shame that were all on different servers.

As far as i know becoming a jedi is very difficult. Every character has a specific path they must progress through to achieve it. Of course they dont tell you what you have to do or what the path is. They gave away some hints at xmas time to vetren players i think.

Oh, and if your FS character dies a few times, it's permadeath. You'll lose that character and everything associated with it, but you will keep the FS Slot so will be able to create another FS character.

With bounties being placed on Jedi heads almost as soon as they're found out, they will definately be kept nice and rare

No single player I'm afraid!

I mean, you could play single player - Wondering around, doing stuff on your own, but that would be boring.

Unless you like being on your own, I guess. Like some Bounty Hunters in the game.

But most people who hate this game do so for two reasons - Firstly, they haven't played it recently :P And secondly, they went round doing stuff on their own.

I played the game for the first time last night. I met up with someone off another forum and they showed me the ropes, plus gave me some clothes and a pet! They also taught me the different languages.

I also went hunting on my own. That wasn't very dignified. Kind of involved me shooting while running away :P

Ahaha, that's my hunting style :)

Not really, honest!

I just go hunting in large groups with people from my city. Seriously, try and meet up with the same people each time you play... if you get in a city with decent people, you can have some great fun.

I just hide at the back like a coward with my little crappy pistol, throwing poison and then jumping on my Speederbike if things get a little too chaotic for me :P

Hope you enjoy the game!

What's everyone up to then?

I mastered combat medic so now I run around healing people in need and poisoning the fuck out of anything that tries to attack me ;)

Mwahaha!

I'm also nearly master marksman. Once I get that I shouldn't be too far off unlocking JEDI.

Well,

I have a 2.66ghz

1gb RAM

GeForce FX 5900 Ultra

Mine runs at a capped 30fps out in the open but when I go in a city it can drop to 10fps. ;)

It's pretty badly coded I guess! ;) It is improving though. But no, it won't run on your PC. Not in a playable state anyway :(

Tips, tips, tips...

Hmm, I guess you can't use area stims? With them I can get around 2000-3000 xp each go, so can get 500,000 xp with 200 stims.

Where are you healing people? The quickest way to get XP with single stims (excluding getting someone to /tumbletostand) is to go to Coronet cantina and heal the entertainers action.

It's the crafting that's the slow part! But if you want to know how to nail that, lemme know.
