Hers was a perfect hat trick as well, I’m not sure if Faes used a different foot for each goal.

He is. Just have Trent and Thiago fizz balls at his Sideshow Bob head second half in the hope he might nut one in.

I really don't know what Jim Beglin is on about half the time. Yes, Leicester started well, but by the end of that half there was only 1 team making any kind of forward progress. Not even Brendan at his most deluded could think that Leicester had been the better team. They caught us cold, but we got stronger with each minute.

Loving the crowd going "SHOOT" as soon as Faes got on the ball, there!

I'm surprised by the criticism of Nunez, because I feel it's not warranted (yet).

Typical media making hay about it, everyone has to do everything immediately.

Why I'm surprised is because ten years ago Liverpool had a Uruguayan striker who wasn't as prolific as he was supposed to be.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2012/apr/17/luis-suarez-liverpool-unlucky

In the half seasons after signing he scored 4 goals total, and in his first full season it was 17. Only 14 in the league.

He then notched 23 and 31 league goals the next two seasons.

The Suarez early stats has remarkable parallels with Nunez now, who based off his five goals - has a better goal per game percentage than Suarez in his first season at not quite the half way mark.

I guess the media wants the clicks, as ever it's always swinging back and forth between "they're great" or "not good enough".

Everytime they put up the stat on sky showing Nunez has missed the most big chances in the Premier League they kept ignoring that Salah was second on the list!

Liverpool have been very wasteful in front of goal this season, it really needs to change to get in the top 4, no reason to think it won't.

I think the key difference is that Suarez was nowhere near as wasteful as Nunez is and the ambitions of the club are different too. Back then we were trying to establish ourselves in the top 4, so there was time for Suarez to grow into the league. Nunez has joined a team (notionally) competing for the big prizes and so doesn't have the luxury of time.

As @rjpageuk says too, the team has been very wasteful in front our goal this season (not just Nunez), so nobody is picking up the slack.

I don't think Nunuez is a bad player though, far from it and he does offer more than just goals. But he is not a natural finisher and he needs to work hard on that aspect, because he really does miss a lot of presentable chances.

Best description I’ve seen of Nunez is he’s disruptive. His goal return, 5 in 12 in the league, puts him on track for 16 across the season, which would be pretty good for a debut season. Obviously ignoring Haaland, who is just a freak of nature, and setting records that will outlive most of us.

Nunez has also hit the woodwork five times, which with a glass half full approach shows he’s not too far off being more prolific, and he’s provided four assists, which is the same as Salah. Nunez has also been recorded sprinting at 38kmh. He must be an absolute bastard to play against.

It's not like we're playing with 10 men when he's in the team. He's not a passenger and is chasing down every ball and keeping defenders occupied. His passing ability is great as well as seen by his ball through to Salah yesterday that Salah wasted. I'm sure he'll come good and not just end up being like Timo Werner.

I love how far down everyone's throats Nunez will end up. Let them laugh, he is missing more chances than most teams are making. If he was missing by miles then we could worry, but chipping the oncoming keeper to bounce off the inside of the post allowing a defender to tap it in for an own-goal? I'll take that every game for the rest of his career, quite happily.

That's also the exact same thing the article from 2012 states. Liverpool were not contributing as a team then either.

Wait until 22/23 and I suspect Nunez will be absolutely flying. Especially if Gakpo starts smashing out even half the assists he's been contributing to date.
