But how do people who are buying these titles from the shops now know about the offer? I haven't seen any television or print adverts for it so unless they are the people who would be checking the Nintendo or game websites religiously how will they find out?

How about you lot shut the fuck up and get with the real world. Nintendo owe you fuck all. If you like their games then buy them. Its not like you dont enjoy playing those games you buy.

NOE should not bother releasing games on time (or even early) and not give any free zelda disks with GCs or with game purchases.

Just thought I'd share with you - I picked up Eternal Darkness for £7.49 from Dixons at lunchtime today - checked through the Terms and Conditions and can't see any reason why I don't qualify for the free disc - Man that feels good.

See, they are nice, they let you buy cheap games in the January sales to use in the deal!

Giving incentives for customers to buy a product is completely down to the competitiveness of the market at any given time. Its the first law of economics, supply and demand. Of course Nintendo will want to try harder to get brand new customers now.

It's a fair point you make but I feel your missing the main complaint.

Nobody is complaining that new customers will get this disk, just complaing that it can be hard to obtain for existing customers.

Looking at it I'm sure most new and future 'Cube owners wouldn't be overly fussed about a Zelda collecters disk, if they where that interested in one of Nintendos main franchises wouldn't they have already purchased the console?

In fact the ones who would want this item more than anything are the existing 'Cube owners, many of whom will be long term fans of the software developer. These people are the ones being denied the product. The offer now will also exclude many of these folk as they will already own all the games on the list required to claim a free disk (me for one). If they had implemented the system used in the USA then most of these folk would have been able to claim the game so this promotion is badly flawed, and treating existing customers poorly.

A simple solution would just be to sell the disk for £9.99 for a limited period (say three months), this would allow anyone wanting the item to obtian it. I'm sure many would be happy to pay this fee to get the product.

Well that's just the extra isn't it. What you're getting is a copy of the bonus disc and a game.

If the game is something you've already got then that just means you're paying for the whatever's 'new', which would be less. But the point is, you're still;

1) Allowed to buy the game.

2) Being charged just as much as anyone else for it.

I mean, should I ask to be charged less for Halo 2 when it's out, just because I've already seen half of the multiplayer levels before?

This is the point I was trying to make earlier. They haven't denied existing customers the ability to get something, they are just not necessarily making it available free. No different to my buying a PS2 at launch example or even getting Sky Digital installed at say £75 when its just a tenner now.

Nintendo have an incentive to give things to brand new customers but giving the same to existing customers if anything slightly reduces their chances of selling new games to that customer (they've got a free one to play) - if the average punter only buys x number of games and existing customers already have x games, giving a free game away does not make economic sense.

Yes, I know.

But you're still paying 29.99 for the exact same thing that someone 'new' to the scene is paying.

I'm just trying to put that into perspective; and the sequels analogy seemed to do that nicely. You're buying something you've already played in order to play something new - 29.99.

Buying some 'sequels' is the same; 29.99 for some new stuff and some old stuff. Which, to some, is not worth it. But that doesn't stop the people who never played the orignal getting a better deal.

That's not unfair, per se, that's just unlucky.

Which, to you, just means that you either have to pay 29.99 for a bonus disc, or just not bother.
