The Great British Bake Off

That Iain bloke had generally been pretty crap, but I felt Diana should have been booted off too as she basically killed his attempt to make sure hers was ok.

Norman should be well gone too. He's the sort of baker you can imagine would be great if you went to his for some home baking, but he's way out his depth on the show. Far too traditional and stuck in his ways.

I'm not a Kate fan. There's no eye candy on the show at all this year. :quote:

Bingate was pretty mental. That old lady stuck in the knife in big time. I thought Iain showed incredible restraint in not pointing boggle-eyed at her and screeching when he was asked to explain himself.

He shouldn't have lost the plot and thrown the lot in the bin. Although I can understand someone doing that when they are under pressure.

The fact that Diana has got off completely free after pulling someones ice cream out a freezer on a warm summer day and leaving it on a bench to melt is what gets me. That should be automatic ejection. What's her next trick, taking a shit in someones pie!

The best/worst part was you could clearly see she didn't give a shit as her cake was ok and that she was getting away with it!

Dear god man, are you even watching the same show? He used Pesto last week... even mentioning that in Inverness will get you burned at the stake.

My current prediction:

1st Richard

2nd Luis

3rd Kate

There is no way Norman is going to get through next week.

I'm going with:

Martha

Richard

Nancy

No idea who would win though, but thats my final three.

I think even before last night's farce Diana was out of her depth a bit. Alaska-gate seems a total fuck up having read Sue's explanation of the time the ice cream was left out for. I just can't be arsed when the BBC does this sort of editing (see The Apprentice). There's drama enough without doing some hack job edit.

I admit there is something about Kate my penis likes, but she has to do something about that fucking hair.

That's what I mean about Norman. He's seems to be good at what he does, but what he does is very very old school. Norman is basically an old granny baker. His biscuits from the other week looked simple, but you know they'd have tasted great.

Where he is out of his depth on the show is that simple style his limit. The fact he sees pesto as exotic and new just highlights that. You know next week he'll bake the most ordinary looking granny Sunday baking thing again. He's gone, unless someone really screws up.

Iain presented a bin, not a finished item. If you look at Chetna, she was having problems but still put hers up to be judged.

Iain has made other mistakes and by losing his temper threw his own chances away. Morons blaming Diana should be put into a mixer and turned into batter.

Blame the cutting of the aired programme. The producers got exactly the response they hoped for. Even the advert for the episode was manufactured to achieve this response. Cunts.

Iain:

After I made meringue for the outside of my baked alaska, I went over to the freezer to check how my ice cream was re-freezing, as it had melted slightly on the outside just before I put it in. Then I realised Diana had left it out of freezer. She moved it out of the way to put hers in. That was the reason it melted.

I've chatted to Diana a couple of times since but I've never asked her why she did it. The Bake Off told me it was out of the fridge for only a minute but I think it had to be a lot longer than a minute to melt as much as that. I was just really shocked that it had been taken out of the freezer. I don't know why it was taken out.

Diana:

I admit I took his ice-cream out of the freezer and this sounds terribly selfish but this was my space and I didn't even see him put it there. I honestly don't know why he put it there. The three of us on that side of the tent, Chetna, Nancy and myself, were told that this was our freezer to use and to manage it to the best of our ability.

I don't regret taking his baked alaska out of the freezer. Of course I didn't do it viciously but we were all wanting a freezer and it was utter chaos, utter chaos. I thought he had his own freezer.

His baked alaska was out for a very small amount of time. I was very surprised it was so liquid. We all had a limited amount of freezer space. But it's three months ago and I can't remember exactly whether his ice-cream was very liquidy when I took it out of the freezer but I think it must have been.

It has to have been. It was very hot and it was horrendous. We were all having trouble and it was utter chaos. Why it was edited in such a way I don't know. I was there to be shot at. It was sad to end my time at Bake Off in such a way.

Also, from Iain:

This is an important point – we didn't have designated freezers, as Diana said on the show, and a couple of freezers broke down the day before so we started with five freezers and we went down to three.

The freezer I was using at the start of the day had got filled up with other people's ice-cream. I went over and there was a space in the freezer on the other side of the tent, which Diana and Nancy and Chetna were using, so I stuck mine in there. I had no reason to believe it would get taken out by anyone.

Hmmmmm, think we can see how this will all pan out.

He's clearly gonna return, the next week or the week after.

Also the fact that (from what Iain stated) only 3 or the 5 freezers were working that day, are we honestly supposed to believe the production didn't have backup equipment?!?

I suspect the producers were engineering this further pressure on the contestants.

If he had opened the freezer and it wasn't set I doubt he would have reacted like he did, the reaction came from someone else taking it out.

I think this is a fair point. The fact someone pulled his ice cream out the freezer on a warm day without telling him, so that they could shove theirs in there was most likely the thing that saw him see red.
