Got the week off. Hoping to binge this tomo, but reckon they'll drip feed them week by week.

Yeah, it's week by week. AMC show it in America every Monday and we get the episode on a Tuesday.

So anyone watched it yet?

Season 3 Episode 1:

Spoiler

Slow-ish start I thought, but the scenes with Mike saved the episode. I could happily while away the hours just watching him being patient, saying absolutely nothing, quietly working stuff out in order to gain the upper hand.

Yup.

Spoiler

The Mike stuff was great, as always.

Chuck remains a cunt. What is his plan to fuck Jimmy over? I was suspicious of the battery changing thing - did he deliberately leave the Play button down and ask Ernesto to change the batteries just so that Ernesto would hear Jimmy's confession?

I think the Netflix splash screen (is that the phrase) has confirmed who is tailing Mike - what with Mike, Saul/Jimmy and you know who pictured sat in a diner together. Agreed with this being 1000% a Mike episode, He's a great character. Chuck being his usual self with

telling Jimy that he read him that book and not their Mother

Only 6 episodes though :(

Only six? :( Aw man.

Chuck is the worst man, he meddles as much as Jimmy, but would never accept that he was doing the wrong thing.

Mike, is Mike. Damn straight. I think we all knew anyway who left the note.

Spoiler

Took me a while to work that out. He was running the battery down using the radio, waiting for the radio sound to go all droopy so he could tell when it was on bingo juice. Seems quite an elaborate way of doing it and you'd assume a radio would take an age to drain a battery.

What was Mike doing with that

radio/tape deck whatever?  I get that he's planted his own tracking device by making them think theirs was kaput, but what was he actually doing?

Also

if he'd just taken the battery out, the people - we know it's Gus right? - would have known they'd been rumbled. If he'd swapped it with a dead battery, they'd also be suspicious as it would have been a different battery. He had to use the same battery and drain it so it didn't look suspicious.

I thought 6 episodes as that's all I could see on the episode menu on Netflix - thankfully, it's 10 :)

If you remember the last series it sort of told us who was tailing mike

Spoiler

The first letters of each of the episode names spelled "frings back"

Great episode. And don't forget to check out the Better Call Saul insider podcast too, new episode after each of the tv shows and it normally has some great insights.

Loved it, that shot of the lightning. On paper it should be the most boring show ever

  Reveal hidden contents

(old men play with batteries, a lady edits a Word document)

but it's gripping stuff.

I assumed it was bugged at the same time that note was left for him in season 2.

The bug was what allowed them to trace Mike to the desert. Hence why Mike tore his car apart afterwards.

Fair point. You'd think it'd be bug-free in that case.

Spoiler

I presumed they'd bugged both cars. I think the drug cartel recruitment consultants have been watching him for a while.

I like Mike and the guy from Deadwood who sells guns and (to a lesser extent) the Vet. Professional People.

So good to have this back, life others have said even when nothing is happening, everything is happening. It's beautifully shot, the time lapse sequences in particular were gorgeous but every shot is perfectly framed.

Regarding the radio/battery

The radio was running off of the same battery, this way it would drain the battery down slowly (so as not to arouse suspicion) and also tell him when the battery was dead (the radio would stop) so that he could prepare for them turning up.

I'm guessing whoever picks it up and checks it will swap out the battery and find it still doesn't communicate, so think the device is possibly faulty, but because they've got a new tracker on his car that's still working they would'nt think anything is up, in the mean time, MIke knows where they are.
