Rick and Morty (and not Justin Roiland)

Halo

Yeah, I've watched most of it and probably like it more than Rick and Morty on average.

It's got a bit of the old Family Guy/American Dad 'Can you just make us another one of those?' syndrome, but it turns out there's room for more than one. I don't think Dan Harmon is involved either, which might explain the absence of the narrative self-indulgence I got bored of in the last series of R&M.

Anyone watching Solar Opposites on Disney+? Justin Roiland, same studio, really good

Yeah love it, especially The Wall epsiodes! Amazing work, proper Hollywood feels in a 25 minute show by pulling all the tropes.

I feel genuine embarrassment saying I enjoy Rick and Morty. The fanbase are so toxic in general and the rumour that Visionary Director Zack Snyder wants to do a movie has revealed that a lot of them are also Snyder superfans, which makes total sense.

Could you elaborate on the fanbase comment please? I have no knowledge of this.

Anyway, awesomely mad episode.

Surprised they referenced Asimov when the concept seemed far closer to Phillip K. Dick.

Dick cascade probably just didn't sound right in the recording booth.

The nadir for me is that you had all these fan theories about the scientific basis of the cob planet (none of which made any sense), meanwhile the writers were quite clear that it was just some dumb shit that they thought was hilarious and having an explanation would ruin it.

The show is very emotionally and intellectually savvy but there’s an vocal and sophomoric segment of the fanbase who seem to think that’s about ~references~ and understanding technical words and get very defensive of their imagined elite status.

I saw a video of some dunce in a burger place going nuts saying "pickle rick" which was pretty disturbing. I can't imagine what the cob planet people are like

They’re all well behaved but it speaks to such a fundamental misreading of a show that’s ultimately about the tragedy of knowing everything and still being unable to make anyone around you happy.

I saw a video of some holy man in a burger place going nuts saying "pickle rick" which was pretty life changing.

And another fan video:

When you say you are a fan of Rick and Morty, you are saying you are part of this man's social circle. You are a brother/sister of his. A comrade. A fellow. Part of his pack; he is part of yours. The same tribe. The same.

That's not how liking something works.
