It's all the usual guff

Predict the DRIVER who starts on pole position

Predict the DRIVER with the fastest lap

Predict which DRIVER will be last across the line

New for 2014

Welcome to the new age of V6 Turbo charge Formula one cars. The FUTURE IS NOW !!!. except Renault forgot to read the email telling the teams the new era started in 2014. So their new engine and energy recovery system doesn't quite work. Oh dear.

So we face the very real possibility that there won't be 10 cars to finish the longer and harder races this year. Certainly australia might be a race of attrition, which means for the first time we will only count those cars that can limp it over the line at the end of the race.

However the FIA classify cars that complete 90% of the race, which means Maldonado could in theory crash into the wall 200 metres from the line and be classified ahead of Max who kept his nose clean but is three laps behind the winner. I personally don't think Maldo should be rewarded for smearing his car down the wall yet again, so in this event Max would be moved ahead in our standing because he's still going.

In summery then; We will now only count those cars that cross the line at the end of the race, if less than ten cars finish, non finishers will not be added to complete the top ten. Cars that fail to cross the line will be bumped for cars that are still running, This might mean our result does not match the FIA result.

If this rule isn't working, because its not obvious which cars have stopped and when, the rule may be changed.

SIgn up today, read the rules and the Blog at: http://sidewaysbob.blogspot.co.uk/p/f1-prediction-game.html

Or screw the rules and just sign up this minute: http://www.deltoid.co.uk/f1/signup.php

This years its going to be as random as its possible to get, Redbull won't be out front hoovering up the points, so even you stand a chance of winning this year. come on give it a go, its a laugh.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE sign up with your RLLMUKFORUM name, not some random silly name or heaven forbid your real name. cheers.

Good luck and get lots of people to sign up now.. there are only 3 weeks till the first race !!!!

not me ... its merc all the way. I don't even think a renault engine will make it to Q1..

actually the hardest call is last place, Do you go with Max or the catherham new boy Ericsson. Or will they ground it out and pass a hobbling Redbull/Lotus ... i think thats going to be the hardest thing to predict for the first 3 or so races

The internet requirement is because it uses something called Connect TV. Seems this means the channel is basically streamed online rather than received through the aerial. Connect TV ties into the Freeview EPG system seamlessly to make it seem like a normal channel. Looks like CCTV, France 24 and a bunch of foreign channels use it.

I've gone for one of the Toro Rossos for last place ;)

I've got the feeling the only thing that'll make the first few races entertaining is the reliability. If that Merc holds firm it could be a bit of a parade up front, just with a different colour car this year.

Totally agree, and I can't help but feel we all want to see some competition and not just a walkover by a different team.

I guess it is just testing but it is a shame it doesn't give more realistic representation of race performance somehow, people like Jenson or Perez tend to do well and top the time sheets but then don't make it into final quali.

I don't think we'll ever see Vettel properly hauling a car through the ranks like Alonso or Hamilton. His style is based around control and domination from the front. He might be nowhere in the first few races but the season is so long all that is forgotten when he's suddenly 50 points ahead of any other driver.

Or not. From Autosport:

08:28 World champion Sebastian Vettel makes his first appearance of the final pre-season test, heading out in the Red Bull.

08:29 But the RB10 encounters a problem straight away, bringing out our first red flag of the day. The course car has picked up the Red Bull mechanics to take them to the car, which has stopped in the second sector.

Yeah I was just reading the BBC commentary and came to post the lol worthy sequence

08:25:

Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull break cover, the reigning world champion trundling down the pit lane before accelerating out onto the track.

08:30:

RED FLAG

We've got our first red flag of the day. Can you guess who is to blame?

08:33:

Yep, it's Sebastian Vettel.

:D
