After seeing the trailer for this posted on Facebook, I now really, really want a PS Vita.

The soundtrack is awesome too!

I've been listening to the soundtrack constantly. It's like the Tron Legacy soundtrack except all the tracks are as good as Derezzed and not a naff orchestral track in site.

Anosou who did a few of the tracks also did a rather splendid Armored Core remix album called The Answer.

Available for free here: http://answer.ocremix.org/music.php

In fact I'll stick this in the Bargains folder.

Got myself a Vita today via Whizzo, this is the first game I installed. Added all from the front page that weren't already on my list.

I am ready.

Edit: my psn is Jim_835 for the list please

Can someone explain how the classic mode restart score thing works? It doesn't seem to be how I expected so I'm confused about how to improve my classic mode score. I thought restarting from the first level with a higher bonus than the next would do it, but apparently not.

My understanding is that for classic mode your entry will be the highest score you've achieved regardless of what level you got it on. If you replay from the start you'd have to beat your current best score to raise it directly. However if you play better than you have previously you will be setting higher start bonuses on the later levels. The idea then is to start from a level where you have a good starting bonus already and then look at improving the later ones. Doing this repeatedly means that you're constantly improving your situation, but it won't reflect in the leaderboard until you use one of these better start points to beat your current best score.

It doesn't update the scores of later levels if that's what you're expecting*?

To improve your classic score you basically need to play through from a level of your choice and beat level 100 again. Pick a level where you feel you've got a good starting score and play to the end. During this, however, If you get to a level where you haven't increased the starting score, then you'll need to do it again.

* edit: unless you play those levels.

It's difficult to explain. Say you've completed the game. You want to improve your score for level 20 on which you've scored x. So you play level 20 and this time you score x+10,000. The game doesn't add 10,000 to the start bonuses of all levels after 20.

However, you've now got a good starting point from which to play to level 100 again, by which point you should have a better overall score.

Ok that makes sense, thanks. What I was expecting from your example was that continuing on and finishing level 21 with a higher score than previously would update the start bonus at that point (and so on for any other levels you finish with a new high score). It was the fact that I couldn't work out why this wasn't happening that was confusing me.

If you finish level 20 and then finish level 21 and then get game over and in doing so you've beaten your previous scores on both those levels, you should now have higher starting bonuses for levels 21 and 22. I've noticed that occasionally that doesn't happen though. Is that what you're asking about?

If so, I think it's got something to do with the number of lives you start and end a level with.

When you've completed a level and finished the bonus round thing, it tells you if you've set a new starting bonus.

Yes, exactly that. What was confusing me was not getting the new starting bonus message when I knew I'd beaten the score. I think it is to do with the number of lives. Perhaps the logic is that both the lives and score have to be >= the previous best for it to be updated, i.e. getting a higher score but with fewer lives won't update it.

Mm, the updating of score and starting lives confused me a lot at first. Unfortunately by the time I found out I was already on level 62 with only three lives to see me through much of the rest of the game (my bonus extra lives rarely lasted long...)

I find you're often better giving a level you're struggling with a bit of a run up. Might just be psychological, but I think it may be a bit more generous with the lives and giving you an early droid.

A bit of experimenting seems to show that it will update the bonus to a LOWER score if you beat the level with more lives left but with a lower score than before. So I think the trick is to find a level with both fewer lives and a lower score than the previous one, then start from that previous better position.

Actually my main tip for improving on classic scores is to work all the way through from the lower levels. By doing that I added about 2 million to my final score. I doubt I'd do that much better again though.
