Cricket Thread

Thought we could do with a general Cricket thread about anything that isn't an England series. Ireland beating the West Indies (T20 World Champions in case you forgot) in a T20 game. Another scalp we can be proud of:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/westindies/content/current/story/720721.html

Windies only put up 116 to beat, with Chris Gayle top scoring with a meagre 20. Probably they took Ireland a bit too lightly. I can't imagine they'll take it easy on us in the next T20 and ODI to come.

Also, Sky have the IPL rights! ITV4 didn't show the games in Ireland, so I had to chase it up on youtube, will be good to get it on the telly proper.

Considering that ITV are pretty dreadful for, well, everything, their IPL coverage was pretty good - decent range of pundits, presenters that knew and/or played the game and the main thing, all games shown. Have they announced what team they will put in place for presenting duties? I'm guessing it's more Nick Knight than David Gower (I quite like Knight, but do really think Sky's 'A' team is excellent).

Totally missed those two. Was SL v India on sky, highlights or live?

Warner looking good in the third test, 50 off 50 balls so far.

Asia Cup is on Sky 783. Pakistan Vs India is on at the moment.

Afghanistan beat Bangladesh yesterday.

Pakistan

Beat India, and now currently getting smashed around by Bangladesh.

Brought in Abdur Rehman, a spinner, to replace Junaid Khan. He managed to bowl three waist high full tosses in a row and was then barred from bowling for the rest of the match. His bowling figures were: 0 - 0 - 8 - 0.

Indeed. East Pakistan really didn't deserve to lose that game, they made Ajmal & Co look ordinary, but then Pakistan actually turned up with the bat for once. Misbah's current "going on strike because I'm fed up of bailing the team out" tactic is working, and the rest of the team is chipping in and actually making an effort now. Afridi with two fantastic knocks when the team needed him the most, Hafeez not looking useless, Fawad Alam with some glorious facial hair.

:omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg:

England threatening to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory again, here. Good batting performance, though.

This is the second consecutive match where England have opened the bowling with Joe Root, which seems to attract little or no comment on Cricinfo. Am I missing something here? Is it conventional ODI tactics now to open with a (part time) spinner?

Yeah, everybody is copying Misbah. He started opening the bowling with spinners for ODIs and T20s years ago. Hafeez was opening the bowling and batting at one point.
