Why did the legging quality go down? I assume cost savings but it is never specified

I think they just had to reduce fabric quality and quality control to up production capacity to cover the insane output required to keep the whole thing rolling. Whereas they were more of a boutique operation at the start, where it’s easy to keep the quality high.

Chaos Walking is on Prime now. It's remarkably average and toothless, given the subject matter. Disappointing.

Wish I'd spotted your comment here before starting this tonight. It's spectacularly dim and wastes a potentially good McGuffin on a load of old shit.

Still, I've got 40 minutes of it to go, so it might pull something remarkable out of the bag before the end but I'm not too hopeful having come this far.

Spoiler

Fucking Manchee (Winston in the cast list) had better survive these last 40 minutes or I will be most upset.

Chaos Walking is one of the worst things I have seen this year. Shame because I was excited for it and the trailers looked great and I fucking love Mads Mikkelson.

I tried to warn you all!

I watched The Map Of Tiny Perfect Things last night. It's like someone watched Groundhog Day and then heard about Palm Springs and thought "What if that, but no charming comedy? Let's make it a tedious teen drama instead". Which was a shame, because the two leads were engaging - but

Spoiler

when part of the central conceit is 'but also what if it's not about just getting the girl' and then it becomes about just getting the girl....boring

The books are really good. YA fare but I enjoyed them, as did my son. I guess the central concept doesn't translate well to film.

Interesting new doc 4 parter on this from the people behind the Fyre festival doc, called LuLaRich - it follows the people behind and involved in what appears to be a massive clothing sales pyramid scheme in the US called LuLaRoe - watched the first part last night and its fascinating stuff how this thing grew and exploded so fast by mobilising an army of housewives to basically sell cheap skirts and leggings.

I've never heard of the story so will just watch out the next 3 parts before googling what happened and comparing to how its portrayed here.

This really is great, ended up watching 3 eps on the trotter last night, it’s so compulsive! I think the Mormon aspect is really interesting too, so many of their ‘family’ based practices remind me of what my mate who was a Jehovah’s Witness used to come out with, I guess these cult-tinged religions are very similar.

Has our resident MLM expert @dumpster seen it? This is right up his alley.

Watched Assault on Precinct 13 for the first time since my student days. Absolutely loved it again.

I looked up the death row antihero actor, Darwin Joston, who was really charismatic. His Wikipedia entry features this heartbreaking line:

Spoiler

His final television role was in a 1986 episode of the comedy series ALF.

This is amazing, thanks for the recommendation.

Also does anyone know if I can stream Justice League Snyder cut in 4k in the UK?

Sky have got it, so it’s available though Now TV.

Goliath S4 starts this month - we binged the first three series early this year and really enjoyed it. Billy Bob Thornton is always excellent.

Just dropped last night, the whole series. Watched the first two episodes, and we're back in.

Cool. I was thinking of buying Babylon 5 for a rewatch, but it's on IMDB if I can tolerate the ads.

Edit: The pilot for the show "The Gathering" is listed as a bonus at the end of the S1 episode list. There was a gap between the pilot and the show so they lost several of the main cast.  Suppose that's why they didn't put it first.

Is there any way of finding out of something is genuinely leaving Prime rather than resetting a repeated residency? My Mrs is obsessed with Bob’s Burgers, I love it too but apparently it leaves in 11 days which means we need to watch 6 eps a day before it goes…which is a lot!

I don’t think there’s a sure way to know unless someone actually announces something.

Do you have Disney+? Because it’s on there too. Perhaps it being on there might even make it more likely that it will actually go from Prime.

True, although things like Disney owned Private Practice have just come to Prime so unless prior agreements are involved it still seems like Disney is up for licensing content.

No, I don’t have Disney. We’ll just have to get them watched until we hate it!

Or we could sub to Disney for a month, which might be easier…

I watched the Kenny Everett comedy horror film from the early eighties.  Thought I'd never seen it before, but I did get some vague memories of seeing some scenes about half way through.  It was really, really, really bad.  I loved it.
