Senran Kagura Beach Peach Splash is now heavily discounted and has support for VR. It’s like Splatoon but with big anime tiddies.

You might have had me at Splatoon but even with the privacy of a VR headset, I’d be too ashamed to play it.

I just checked the reviews and many of them are along the lines of ‘fun gameplay but....’.

It’s a shame really. Their fighting game is a cracking game as well, but it is so hard to defend. The entire franchise is so ludicrously sexist I honestly think it does more harm than good.

But hey, when the above VR trailer uses the term “waifu” they damned well know who their core audience is.

Why is there not a Time Crisis collection for PSVR (with online enabled Point Blank collection as a hidden extra).

Silly Namco.

Why isn't there a Time Crisis collection or Point Blank for the Switch? :(

Why isn't there a Ridge Racer?

Klonoa?

So many missed ops. Namco are worse than Konami.

Wipeout just blew my mind, wow what the fuck! I don’t know how to explain it but my word what an experience that was and only had one race as I was hitting my VR limits (I’d been playing GOTY Astro Bot before) so only planned on seeing what the fuss was about....

Yeah, finally managed to hook mine up the other night. Wipeout VR is just something else - this thing is in my home. I can play this incredible racing game that feels like it fell out of space and time whenever I want! What a world. Tetris Effect is wonderful, and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is fun as hell, even if we've played it before.

Really impressed by Statik too. Definitely worth the $6 or so I spent on it.

If you haven't yet switched Wipeout's camera to tracking the pilot, give it a go. It ramps it up several notches beyond. It was almost too much for me (until I took the edge off with alcohol), but oh boy - it's just glorious. As an enormous fan of Wipeout (2097 is in my top 10 games ever), being able to be in the game like this is just astonishing.

Yes! Pretty much my sentiments in the rllmuk games awards thread :)

"The PSVR headset and the early Wipeout games both felt like glimpses into the future, and so the idea of an update to a Wipeout game that added PSVR support seemed unmissable. It may not be the kind of game you want to have as your introduction to VR, but it's worth a look once you've tried a few other games. From the moment you're sat on the starting grid - not in your room looking at the game on a flat-panel TV, but there, on the starting grid - you know this is going to be something special, and it doesn't disappoint in any way. Even though it is "just" a racing game and it's being played on a five year old console, it feels like one of the most "futuristic" experiences of 2018; the kind of thing that the '90s you thought gaming would eventually become."

It’s simpky incredible, I knew I was playing a game and had a VR hat on but I was reaching out to touch my ship - I’ve never felt so immersed in a racing games and that was before the lights went out!

Incedentally I won the race easily, I’ve played a lot of wipeout and the first track is one I’ve time trialled but the other day when I was showing off the telly to a mate I didn’t win as wipeout is a game I feel you build up to after a while away but it just felt natural and leaning into the corners was obvious in VR where out of it the air brakes almost feel counterintuitive until you have got used to them again!

I still can’t fathom how they got Wipeout VR to perform the way it does it’s pure witchcraft. The thing that amazed me the most was how huge the ships feel, they always seemed small to me on screen, but when you are sat in one and racing along side others the sense of scale is off the chart.

Is it possible to play Wipeout with an external view? Without throwing up, I mean. It does feel great in the cockpit (shame about the static avatar, but whatever) thing is I've never ever got into playing any arcade racer like that. Internal was fine, external I was internally all over the shop within seconds. Is it just a game that's like that, or something you can get used to?

Also I tried the Rush of Blood demo, and I didn't die of fright so in alcohol fuelled confidence I've bought it for $5.99 form the US store. Seems to to what it does really well, and those other shooting galleries type affairs that've been offered up look pretty shit and/or plain weird in the case of that American Dream one. Seriously, there should be loads of games like this, it's so suited for it and I'd kill for some sort of VR remaster House of the Dead Anthology or something. Or a House of the Dead Rollercoaster which has a section where you can suffer like G did?

Quick question, my brother has a HTC Vive and we were wondering what the best games were to play cross platform. We were playing Sports Bar VR last night which was great. Had an amazing experience and this is pretty much a game changer for us as I only see him every few years as he lives in America. Are there many others games that would be easy for us to get setup with?

I'd recommend Megaton Rainfall.  It gets too hard after the first 5 or so levels and it isn't a game I ever completed because I got sick of it, but if you have got over your VR sickness there's a very EDF feel to it with crazy big explosions and lots of fun shooty action. I recommended it at the time of release and wouldn't do now because of the later levels being too much, but while it lasts it is brilliant fun and for £5 it is worthwhile.

In terms of Time Crisis style games, there’s a few shooting gallery modes in the London Heist that are pretty good (part of VR Worlds). To be fair London Heist is very Virtua Cop/TC anyway.

Never played it but didnt Bravo Team get slated because it wasn’t an FPS but more like TC?

Theres also that Korean sci fi game that is an on rails shooter. Mortal Blitz.

I started off playing racing games using internal view many years ago, and somewhere along the way I switched. I think it must have been one particular game that I couldn't get to grips with at first, but soon after I was playing them all from an external view. I tried switching back because I find it helps with cornering, but I never could stick with it for some reason. Wipeout in VR is the first time I've gone back inside, and it felt so natural I haven't really questioned it. It will be interesting to see how I feel when I next play a non-VR game.

Anyway - I'm pretty sure the option is there to use an external camera somewhere - I seem to recall seeing it when I was adjusting the other settings.

Oh there is an option for external view (two, I think), it's just not the default and I was wondering if anyone's been able to cope with it because I couldn't.

Oh I see - sorry got entirely the wrong end of the stick. Well - that sounds like a challenge to me! Will try it later :)

Picked up a PSVR starter kit yesterday on the strength on playing Rez and Tetris Effect. Played them both on the TV and its by no means necessary to have VR for...but both are some of the best games experiences I've ever had when played in VR. Got Astro Bot : Rescue Mission in the deal too so looking forward to playing that too.

Mortal Blitz is very good - it’s the closest thing to Time Crisis at the moment. Looks lovely too.

Bought Detached in the sale. Holy hell that certainly tests your VR legs! If you’ve had your headset a while and built up your resistance, it’s definitely worth a try at the sale price point.

The zero-g feels just right - the barrel rolls are really vertigo inducing!

I am having an issue with the tracking on my psvr; the world in lots of games wobble a bit even through I am not moving. I have tried calibrating but not really helped, any suggestions?

I'd say be aware of of any Christmas lights or tinsel in view of the camera, my PSVR is usually problem free but last night I had the exact same issues you're describing, the world jittering all over the place and it turned out to be the silver tinsel on the door frame behind me causing it 'cos once I took it down everything was fine again
