Not managed to take the plunge yet but I'm hopeful that I'll be picking one up soon. I only have the original PS4 tho and someone told me it's not compatible as you need a Pro. Is that true or poo?

Total poo. It even launched before the Pro did.

It's complete bollocks, you don't need a pro.

Is Rez that good in VR?

I love Rez to bits. It's in my top 10 games ever. It didn't wow me in VR like Astro Bot did though (it made it easier to play the main game, but much harder to play the bosses, IMO). Even the best bits of the extra stuff didn't do it for me as much as Astro Bot did.

Rez is still in my top 10 games ever though. And as amazing as Astro Bot is it probably isn't.

There were a number of posts in this very thread a while back about how much better VR is with the Pro, but I have to disagree, and that opinion definitely seems to have changed over the past few months. Wipeout is definitely better on a Pro for example, but you don't see the difference in the speed or framerate and so when you actually play its pretty much identical. Maybe someone else here has a better example but all I've seen is VR turns everything up to eleven and having a pro maybe takes that to a 13.

Rush Of Blood is a bit intense! Great fun though, and I really liked how they set the scene. I thought I was going to have some issues with the faster bits of rollercoaster but my stomach settled down after the first, thankfully.

My wife liked her go on Astrobot, and will probably play some more, but I'm not sure I'm going to tempt her into ROB or RE7 any time soon.

Interesting, I thought Wipeout was supposed to be identical on both Pro and normal PS4.

The FPS will be the same on pro, pro should have res advantage or supersampling for less jaggies but obv game dependant - where a game has been enhanced the pro version can be noticeably better and there have been loads of articles Babur this so worth a google or some YouTube researching.

Is that driveclubVR claim correct?

Apparently. Here's an old digital foundry article on the improvements to launch VR games when played on a pro

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.eurogamer.net/amp/digitalfoundry-2016-how-does-ps4-pro-improve-the-psvr-experience

It contains a link to a Rushy tweet saying there are slight improvements on a pro.

I got given the Move dildoes for Christmas, what stands out as being Move-worthy on VR? I guess it's Beat Saber, but what else? I have the various demo discs, and Rush of Blood (I assume that's a Move-compatible?) but what else? Particularly if it's in the current January sale.

Skyrim as an archer is great. Batman, Ultrawings, Beat Saber, Superhot VR off the top of my head

Superhot VR! Absolute essential purchase, and i believe it's on sale at the moment as well.

EDIT: is indeed on sale for 12.99, you won't regret it (well unless you don't have enough room and end up breaking your hand punching a wall....)

Farpoint is a great example of how VR changes the experience. I'm going to play it tonight and I'm out at the moment but really looking forward to it. Its like having a massive arcade style setup in the house. The game itself (so far) has been incredibly basic, with a grand total of three enemy types and mainly corridor based walking, but the experience of it is something else. I was looking up at the smoke billowing out of a volcano or something and thinking "fuck me...." , it really is like being in some other world environment. Standing up, hearing something at the sides of you through the 3D audio, turning to the side and shooting whatever it is....  Looking straight down the scope.  Its magic.  We're living in the future .

There needs to be a peripheral that you stand on, some kind of big mat that let's you walk whilst staying on the spot.  Someone please make one and go on Dragon's Den.

Yes I really enjoyed Farpoint when I played through it last year when I borrow it and the aim controller from a mate. So much so in fact that when I got an aim controller myself and noticed it was on sale I bought it.

As you say it's not a particularly deep game, however it does have a nice story and it looks quite nice and the face hugger type enemies are terrifying when they fly at you. It is made far more than the sum of it's parts by being in VR and using the aim controller, I wouldn't give it the time of day in 2D, but it's not and as such it manages to be really good fun. They also nailed how to get ADS working with the aim, so much fun.

Out of interest where did you get yours and for what kind of price? I really want an aim controller but they never seem to come down in price. At £30 - £40 I would take the plunge but they always seem to be double that.

Strange given the PSVR has gone from £400 to £170 in just over a year.
