My nephew and I made a small breakthrough in The Playroom's "Toy Wars" game today, in that we actually reached and defeated the boss. After lots of back and forth it was agreed that I was way better at controlling the bot on the ground and he'd be better off on the turret (as long as I yelled "flying ones" whenever flying enemies came onscreen - the bot on the ground doesn't have many options for dealing with those. :P )

Another Playroom discovery we made for the first time today was in "Cat & Mouse" - I was trolling as the cat by hanging around without retreating, but doing so causes a dog to emerge and start slobbering across your view. Nice. :) I've had the headset since launch and had never seen that.

Hmm - so we traded in some old controllers during a manager’s special at EB. Got $52. Then I bought my wife a chrome cast and she gave me the remainder of a voucher ($58) in payment.

$110. Do we get an Aim controller or get Beat Sabre instead, and save the rest of the money. Aim is $99 but preowned is $28 - but nowhere within 400km has one, so new it has to be if we go down that path. To confuse matters further - we actually have a copy of Farpoint. Thinking I could trade that in, then buy the Aim Farpoint pack.

Also - where’s our Point Blank and Time Crisis VR remaster?

Something like Sega's Gunblade NY/LA Machineguns would be great in VR with the aim.

It's a shame that Sega and Namco never tried to port any classic arcade shooters or racing games to vr. A lot of late 90s stuff would be amazing in VR and PS4/PSVR could handle it easily.

PSVR has been the saving grace for PS4/this gen in terms of arcade style game experiences, just a shame that low budget indie studios are having to carry it and the big companies haven't shown much interest.

Even stuff like the PS1/PSP Ridge Racer games and the likes of Sega Rally 1 and 2 or Daytona USA would be great in VR, regardless of graphics.

Has anyone here played Doom with the aim? I might pick it up in the sale.

Ace Combat 7 is out next week. We have to buy that for any hope of Ridge Racer VR to remain.

Whether I purchase this now or wait for the bargain bins is completely dependent on the length of the vr mode (a term that doesn't inspire confidence).

I have and it's really really good fun. I utterly hated it with dual motion controllers as the locomotion is fucked, and it's just weird playing with the dual shock with regards to aiming. At 9 quid in the sale I'd certainly recommend it if you have an aim

It's not perfect with the aim (because of the weird disembodied grenade launcher weapon in your left hand) but it's so much better. It took a game I was really disappointed in and made it excellent once I'd got use to where the necessary buttons for everything were on the aim controller. I'd say you do need to have good VR legs though as you are going to be spinning that view around a lot!

I’ve heard reports of a 3 hour experience... which isn’t huge, but I’m no stranger to fun short games (Rez, coin-ops) so they might get away with it ;)

Eh??

Nausea. The X-Wing mission in Battlefront put me off VR for over six months due to the sickness that crept over me while I was dodging asteroids, strafing Star Destroyers and dog fighting TIEs, so Jeebus knows what would happen if there was a game where that sort of stuff was the meat and potatoes of it.

Obviously some others have a higher tolerance but my stomach still doesn't like too much VR movement.

I'm finding that after ten minutes play, the Aim controller isn't matching what I'm seeing in the game world. Like I know I'm holding it straight forward but in the game it's pointing somewhere else.  If I give the gun a shake it sorts out for a few minutes. Anyone see this? Have a got a duff controller?

I'm surprised, usually things like flight sims are ok because you've got that cockpit as a reference point.

Yep people expected the same from Wipeout VR and that's fine. Think a lot is down to how well it's implemented.

It's the same as the drift problems you get with moves.

The same fixes apply. It's a case of checking your distance from the camera and any interfering light sources.

The problem with the X-wing demo is that the cockpit moves all over the place. I can't believe the devs went for that. It's downright stupid.
