Yeah pretty sure it's due for release this year.

Do we have any more big hitters on the way for VR this year.  Having recently returned to RE7 to attempt to not be a wimp and finish it (nearly there now) it is back to being permanently setup and ready to go.

Thanks to the new demo disc I tried Superhot VR tonight - you guys weren't kidding about that one. It's another completely fresh VR experience, genuinely unlike any game I've played in my life. So much fun and so intuitive (except for the throwing, but I started to get a handle on that by the end of the demo).

I did lightly punch the wall a couple of times though - once with my hand and once with the squishy ball on the Move. My room is just big enough that I can stretch my arms out and barely touch both walls with fingertips, so if there's anything preventing me from buying it immediately it's that. Mostly I was fine but if I got too into it I punched while leaning over, which was obviously not very smart.

I remember people talking about difficulty with tracking low moves, and I don't think there was anything like that in the demo unfortunately. There was one where I was taking cover behind a cabinet and that seemed OK.

Superhot is the only game Ive not been able to fully calibrate - If I step further away from the camera I get "out of play area" messages on screen, but if I go closer the camera doesn't see enough for me to pick things off the floor.

I should be able to check that after clearing one of the stages right? If there are objects left I can drop them on the floor and try to pick them up again. Will give it a go before I buy.

You don't have to reach all the way down to the floor to pick up an object.  Just pointing at it is good enough for it to jump into your hand.

Not sure you'd call it a big hitter, but I really liked the look of Falcon Age when it popped in Eurogamer's "50 games to look out for this year" list:

I played Astro Bot : Rescue Mission for the first time.

Starts of brilliantly and then in world 1-2 there is a moment (that I think has already been hinted at on here) that is completely incredible and had me laughing out loud in amazement.

That is a most joyous game, so very inventive and I think the strongest uses of VR.

Which part are you referring to? I don’t remember anything in particular, but I’m somewhat dead inside.

Spoiler

Just after the start you move them round to the right out of view, then instinctively lean forward and look to the right and there they are!

It might be that I'm a simpleton and you're not dead inside, or maybe both somewhere else on that slider :)

Sorry, nope, I do remember this! And yes it was brilliant! In fact I now remember I yelled at my partner in the kitchen to explain what was going on and how cool it was.

Not so much dead inside as braindead, it seems.

I had a dream last night that I remade John Carpenters the Thing in VR. It was a film, not a game, but you could choose which character you wanted to be at any time, to fill out the back stories and work out what happened to everyone and when. Finding out what happened to Mac out in the snow for example...

Sorry, sharing dreams is boring, but it's a neat idea

Effectively a licensed, horror version of The Invisible Hours. Which was a pretty great experience itself, so not a bad idea (though I'm not sure I'd actually want The Thing left with no questions to answer).

I would definitely love to see more The Invisible Hours-esque stuff on PSVR. I bet there's a ton of HP Lovecraft stories that would work well with the format.

Watching Shadow Over Innsmouth play out as a fly on the wall would be amazing.

Lovecraft is a very good shout.

If anyone is interested, the new episode of DorkTunes is out, where I chatted to Kenny Young, who composed the music for Astro Bot...and lots more...

Excellent! Astrobot music is so good. Usually platformer music is pretty forgettable unless it's Mario but Astrobot's soundtrack has stuck with me.

I know we were taking about wanting more games where the players gets to see the same events from different perspectives and times to shape the story, but an actual Groundhog Day game seems rather a little too on the nose!

Still, a very good pedigree of developer, so probably one to look out for.

Moss continues to be wonderful but really is brought down by some occasionally fussy controls and that someone thought what it needed was obnoxiously difficult boss battles.

Sounds like trying to beat some of the RE7 bosses with blink turn on, I was rolling about like a sailor in a typhoon.

So Beat Saber has me thinking Move Controller Twin Pack should be purchased, only stock seems to be very limited. Anyone got any recommendations and should I realistically hold out for the original RRP of £68 ish or pay the inflated £130 for those that have them? Do folk think the stock shortage is due to a revised set being released?

the move controllers have already been updated with micro-USB

but it means you can't use the totally awesome original charging stand
