Am I right that there is the wiring behind the scenes (including power to the breakout box), then the headset goes into the breakout box, and the camera sits on top of the TV?

Nice setup!

It only takes about 5mins to plug it all in from scratch once you know what goes where!

On the back of the PSVR breakout box there is a socket for power supply, an HDMI input to receive the signal from the PS4, an HDMI output to send the signal to the TV and a USB OUT that plugs into the USB IN of the PS4. The VR headset then plugs into 2 inputs on the front of the PSVR breakout box via a single lead that splits into two at the end, which obviously comes from the headset itself. You then plug your headphones into the VR headset. The camera just plugs directly into the PS4 separately. Job done! :)

Version 2 of the PS VR headset is quicker to setup (particularly if you use the HDR feature on ‘normal’ games).

I take mine out of a storage box and plug the two connectors (leading into one cable) into the front of the breakaway box. I keep the camera behind my centre speaker, so I get that out too. The headphones are built in to this version and they’re decent enough.

You do also need to dig out your Move or Aim controller/s, maybe give the lenses a wipe, move a chair to a good position for it. It’s not a whole load of setup, but it’s sometimes enough for me to not bother

Unless you have a V1 headset and a HDR TV, there's no reason to disconnect the breakout box , so when  you want to play VR you just plug the headset in. 8 seconds . I find it surprising how many people say that the VR is a FAFF to set up, because it puts people off buying VR.  When these people play PS4 I can only assume that they put away all the console, cables, controllers into the retail box or something.  Just leave the breakout box in place on top of the PS4, it's no extra clutter.

I have my headset perched on a black one of these, everything plugged in. It’s as simple as taking it off there and straight onto my noggin.

I’ve actually never played it sat down, for some reason I always stand. Will put that on my bucket list.

I'm looking at a second hand PSVR setup which includes 2 move controllers and a charging station and a couple of games for £160...that's a bargain, right?

I think that is about what CEX would give you cash.

To buy at CEX probably looking 200+

If it is in good nick then, yup sounds like a good deal to me.

Bought, set up and had a good few hours with it. Fortunately already had Polybius and Tetris Effect so had some wow moments straight away without installing anything. My wife got involved with Headmaster (!) on the demo disc,  most laughs we've had with a game for ages. That demo disc seems prone to crashing though and really makes the drive chug along. Eager to get more content, really impressed so far.

I've been holding off forever on picking up PSVR but as the price on the Megapack bundle has dropped back down to sub £240, its gonna be real tough not ordering one tomorrow while at work for some VR fun at the weekend. I've been wanting to play RE7 in VR for too damn long now!

RE7 was one of the games I got with my £160 second hand bundle. Just tried Wipeout, the attention to detail in the cockpit is amazing but one lap made me queasy.

This is something I'm worried about. I'm usually ok with motion sickness inducing stuff but with VR, I dunno. It'd be nice to try one out first as I'd hate to feel like I'd wasted my money on something that just makes me want to puke after 15 minutes of using it.

Have you tried the anti-vom comfort settings? Closing off the sides of the cockpit is one thing you can do.

I don’t get too much queasiness from on rails things like racers, just a bit of a dippy tummy from going up and down bumps, which I actually find immersive.

Any 360 degree fully 3d movement in first person I find unbearable though. REVII in anything but flick-book mode (which I hate) makes me feel like I have decompression sickness.

Default on Wipeout VR made me a bit queasy, I think for me it's the head staying upright disassociation of the ship turning, Pilot mode (the one with the warning) was fine and how I play now, like above I put the cockpit sides on too and relaxed it from there.
