I'm off for two weeks from the 16th. Perfect timing.

Tempted by a wheelstand pro for my wheel. Are they worth it? Other option is slightly wobbly small table.

I'm wondering the same thing :) £99 delivered seems pretty reasonable...

So having had the Rift since near launch and upgraded to a 1080 graphics card I'm torn on whether to keep my PSVR pre-order. Have any Rift of Vive users here tried PSVR? The things I'm currently thinking about are:

  • I MUST have Touch controllers the second they go on sale
  • PSVR software is going to be a lot more expensive on the whole vs the stuff on Steam I'm guessing
  • I would most likely keep it in the lounge, which means usage would be limited in comparison to my office / mancave
  • I need a camera, and one or two Move controllers (I have a MOVE somewhere but god knows where so would most likely need a new one)
  • But mostly I'm just not sure if it's going to feel like good technology in comparison to what I have, and therefore apart from one or two exclusive titles maybe I just wouldn't use it.
  • Am I going to feel gimped not having a Pro at launch (and I really can't justify buying Touch, PSVR and the Pro)

With demo units starting to appear (none anywhere near here sadly) reports are coming in from people who own Vive's and Rifts. The general thoughts so far seems to be its the most comfortable of the 3...has the least (none) screen door (I never notice any SDE effect on the Rift so don't care about that one) but the screen feels like a significant downgrade in comparison to the Rift and Vive and it feels slightly less responsive.. A few people have said it is similar to the Gear VR in screen quality.

But I really do want to play Rez, and whatever Minter has cooking and a few other titles....mmmm......

Ideally I need a 15 minute demo, that would be enough for me to be able to make the call.

Are any of you Rift or Vive users who are planning on PSVR too? Would love to hear some thoughts on this one...

Have you seen the price of move controllers now , no way I'm  spending 70 quid on them just because they've been repackaged.

i wonder if I could get away with using 2 dual shocks. A bit of wood and some nails, bobs your uncle. I'm gonna make a Move staff!

Or you could try CEX. Their second-hand Move controllers are only £15 each.

Cool I'll check that out. Will some games require it? I mean what happens in London heist if you don't have a move?

i kinda wanna wait and see what games it'll be supported on but then I want to have that experience with VR and see what the limitations are.

number one thing I'm looking forward too is looking down and see my real controller in the virtual world with that playroom VR upgrade.

oh I did some digging and apparently someone from Codemasters has said they are quite likely to release a VR patch for Dirt Rally and that it'll be free. This was a very loose acknowledgment in a German article.

i wonder if they would get some pushback from Sony who would obviously love to rerelease the game for VR I suspect.

Bloody hope it's free! Only reason I've kept hold of it for so long is the hope of VR support.

I'd hope that they'd just be happy for the VR support. I'm sure there'll be plenty of sales just from people who don't own it already and want another VR racer.

I don't really have the space or inclination to get a wheel though, so my excitement  for VR racers has cooled somewhat.

I've got a preorder waiting for me in 2 weeks and popped into currys earlier for a vr fix via oculus...

it it was absolutely mind blowing. i played s demo of some alien-species friend making simulator thing and it just completely stunned me. The whole 'presence' thing just cannot be explained it is a game changer.

hopefully the psvr tech will be up to scratch.....

As far as I can tell from what I've seen and what I've heard PSVR might be the most basic purpose built system but it seems to be punching above its weight in terms of what they're getting out of the PS4.

Obviously that black box that comes with the headset is where much of the magic is coming from in terms of doubling frame rate with minimal delay. (Like motion smoothing on TVs) Most people were expecting stick figures and wolfenstein 3D graphics I assume. They even surpassed my expectations though as I was looking at the fidelity of Trine 2 as a target.

Id love to see what's in that box you get. I reckon there's obviously a power supply in there. Might scupper some hopes about hacking it to work on PC.

Now if they did allow support for PSVR on PC they might be able to attract more developer support with PC/PS4 releases, pull the rug out from Microsoft with the rift. That would be a smart move but probably wishful thinking

The "processing unit" doesn't do much processing and it doesn't do the reprojection to double the framerate.

It just takes the signal being sent to the headset and converts it to something that can be spat out onto the TV.

Edit: does a few other things too.

My PS4 hard drive is getting full and can I use external hard drive on PS4 like XBOX one. Just checking if there is any recent support added on it recently.

No, only option is replacing the internal drive with a larger one.

After backing up, obv.
