Well Robocop's walking speed would give you a better justification for having a car in the game at least.

If they made a game where you could drive around Old Detroit with Basil Polidouros score banging away in the background I would probably spontaneously combust from sheer happiness!

Loving this game (bit late to the party).

My main story is at 95%, everything else bar the Riddler challenges are at 100%. Working my way through those now - Fight School was really frustrating, but just completed it.

Is there any point in destroying all the flying drones in each area? One in Founders Island i just can't seem to get high enough to land on it.

Other than it being damned fun? :D I don't think you can get the second ending without doing all the side quests.

Do you know how to swoop down to gain height?

I’ve owned this for a while but only recently started it. It’s got to be 7 years since I last played Arkham City, I have a palpable sense of bewilderment when playing because I don’t remember how to play it or what Batman’s abilities are or what the story is anymore. I remember the same feeling going from Asylum to City though, so I’m sure that’ll pass the further I get into the groove.

I think it’ll be really interesting to play, off the back of Spider-Man. One noticeable difference right away is the city itself - Manhattan is huge but mainly just an obstacle course to swing over and a place to fight enemies. Gotham is densely detailed and, while time will tell just how much of it is a painted backdrop and how much can be interacted with, it gives a much better impression of being this virtual playground to be smashed, opened and explored.

Big fan of Asylum and City, so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.

I think this is probably my game of the generation. Asylum and City were great and this was a perfect follow-on for me. The story is well told, it refines the combat and stealth mechanics even more, and the Batmobile is so well integrated that you really feel like a bad-ass screaming around the city. I’ll admit there are a few too many tank battles though. I still think it looks amazing too.

I played a bit of this on Xbox recently and just couldn’t really get into it, despite all the other games (including Origins) being some of my favourite games of that generation.

The bat mobile is ok but there are just way too many tank battles, a lot of the side quest activities just feel like chores, the riddler stuff is bloated and unfocused and the plot really grates (the world’s greatest detective can’t figure out who the main antagonist is). It’s also just a bit too dark for my liking.

The feeling of anxiety I have while playing, that at any moment I can grapple to a ledge and have that thing happen also just adds an unnecessary layer of tension to everything.

Haha- the shock of that blew my daughter backwards into her doll house as she was watching!

The Arkham need to have that details because the Riddlers trophies / challenges / stupid races all required that at certain points you have to stop and look around to solve them. Manhatten in Spider-man is so clean and empty in comparison with only a few crimes to slow you down when travelling.

The first time I played City I did all the Riddler trophies, but on this I just couldn’t face them all. I think it’s worth doing the Riddler side missions up till the natural end, but seeking out all the remaining trophies is just a pain.

@Popo High five for bumping this the other week as it reminded me that I never finished it back in the day. I went back to it and decided to start over from scratch and have had a whale of a time gliding over the rain-streaked streets of Gotham and beating the absolute living shit out of goons.

Still one of the best games of the generation and 5 years on it remains one of the best looking too. Stunning use of the Unreal Engine.

Can’t wait to see what Rocksteady have been working on for the past 5(!) years. One of the best developers around.

After completing Return to Arkham and CIty I thought I'd go back and finish my NG+ playthrough of Arkham Knight which is locked to Knightmare mode and honestly the combat is far too difficult for me. I've never been that great at the combat in the games but I've now reached a stage where I have to beat three waves of enemies including brutes, guys with swords and those assholes who charge you and I keep dying over and over again and the reload after dying takes ages on my base PS4. Until this point I'd been enjoying the game and even the tank battles hadn't annoyed me that much. As with Spider-man with all of the Riddler trophies gone because I got them all on my original playthrough the city is a lot less interesting to move around in.

I’ve never finished this game, despite it being by far my most hyped game of the generation. And the sheer disappointment is probably the reason I've never been as excited for a game since. I got it on PC at launch and it was a complete disaster, we had little to no acknowledgement from WB of what a mess it was, the "fix" took months and fixed nothing. It felt terrible to play and I tried to slog my way through it but the annoying tank battles and plot contrivances really put me off.  It was also one of the first gifts my wife got me after we met, and I had no way to get a refund for a Steam key at the time. I don't think we ever got an answer for why it was so poorly handled on PC.

I also got it bundled with my OG Xbox One back then, and played a bit but was so pissed off with having paid for the PC version and being unable to get it refunded, I sold it quite quickly.

Anyway, all that disappointment seems a long way off now, and it’s on Game Pass, so I’ve picked up where I left off in 2015  (about 25% in) and am enjoying it. It’s so full of busywork but it’s reminded me why Arkham is one of my favourite games series of all time, and all the memories of 100%ing Asylum with my brother and sister, when we all lived at home.

I've been thinking about getting a piece of artwork for my new study at home and haven't really been able to choose something. I want something that actually means something to me rather than some random bit of abstract art or a game/movie thing that looks cool but I have no strong feelings toward. I think the only two games franchises that really mean something to me are Crash Bandicoot and Arkham, because of those memories of playing them as kids with my siblings. I don't want a massive grinning bandicoot on the wall behind me, and Batman feels pretty nerd cliché, but as I say, it actually means something to me, so I think I might get something Arkham related.

I've got an Arkham asylum hanging banner thing. It's about the length of a door and has Batman and the logo on it. We could sort summat out if you're fussed.

I absolutely loved this series, but I had never played this game until recently and it was because of Game Pass. Its superb and I just loved every minute of it. The tank battles are utter shit to be fair, especially when they hack the difficulty up, but that aside, for me, one of the games of the generation. *chefs kiss*

Thanks. My size requirements are kind of fixed, though, and I'm going to try and get something relatively bespoke. Maybe dig up some concept art or something like that.

I was just in a Teams meeting and have also realised it will be in full view, so need to keep that in mind.
