Bitmap Books is doing a PC Engine Box Art Collection book, which if it's as good as the Super Famicom one, will be glorious.

This should be great. I wish they'd go back to the book dimensions of the visual compendiums though (a5-ish?). My bookcase is buckling under the weight of retro books.

this lad is a legend and has worked his magic on many of my consoles. He currently has my GT for a check over (already been recapped)

Setup my pc engine mini tonight. After basically spending all my time on retro arch trying to reduce input lag, I thought if I use the mini consoles I have, I can't piss away my time in retro arch settings and I'll actually be playing games instead. There's something to be said for a pre packed box that's can't be configured except for the odd screen filter and bezel (i.e. all the mini consoles).

Anyway, obviously the thing is shooter heavy. I'm not sure what's worth investing time in. I've been trying salamander , there's something very good about it (I've never played it before!)

Anything else that's really worth investing time in?

Are talking about just games on the PC Engine Mini/Turbografx Mini? *Looks up games selection on the device* I enjoy Alien Crash, Be-Ball, Lords of Thunder, Ninja Spirit, of the games not already mentioned. Gradius II is worth a look if you want to try a ridiculously tough shooter. Military Madness/Nectaris is worth a play or two if you like Advance Wars. Neutopia and its sequel are like NES Zelda, but more ‘modern’.

If we’re not just talking shooters, Devil’s Crush is video game pinball heaven although the MD version is superior and I’ve no idea if it’s on the mini.

Just having a look through my PCE collection and most of my games are shooters, but there’s a few that aren’t I’d say try:

Ninja Spirit

Splatterhouse

Momotaro Katsugeki

Castlevania

Rainbow Islands

Strider (MD version is better though)

Crest of Wolf

Shibubinman 3

Red Alert

Edit: and if you like trying out really shit games try Golden Axe and Rastan Saga II, easily two of the worst games in my entire collection.

I like Metal Stoker a lot.

I find it starts in a high gear and doesn't deviate a lot from that intensity - and I've never quite got into a flow with playing it enough to get too far into it.. but the presentation is great and there's something I can't quiet pinpoint about it as a whole that I find very awesome.
