Nice work as usual Agent L!

Working through a few from my holiday in Portugal, so annoyed at myself, took my mini tripod with me, and despite checking my gear bag twice managed to forget the quick release plate! Most of the photos were just holiday type snaps anyway, but would've been nice to try some longer exposure stuff with the water!

We were in Albuferia, it was good but I think I'd rather go to one of the cities, or further along the coast next time, it was far too touristy for my liking. (e.g every restaurant is a steakhouse and every bar an Irish or English theme bar!).

Where were you?

Based in Carvoeiro which is a bit further west on the algarve than Albufeira. We had a car though and went all along the coast to Lagos, Sagres, Cape St Vincent etc. The Algarve and the less built up areas especially is a beautiful part of the world.

Don't think we went to Albufeira though I'm not certain, we went to a lot of places!

Thats what I'd like to do if we go back, get a car and actually see the place, rather than going the same places every night. We did a boat trip along the coast, and went to a secluded beach (where those photos are from), but I'd love to go exploring myself!

Also, grats on getting married!

My parents have an appartment in Vilamoura, east of Albufeira. Went last year and found it quite hard to get photos of anything that wasn't just standard holiday photos. Can you recommend anywhere particularly nice for photos Agent L?

Depends what you like really but off the top of my head I'd say Ferragudo (which is still a 'proper' Portuguese town) , Alvor (has a nice nature type area that's worth a walk round) Sagres (particularly the fort), Cape St Vincent for iconic/ironic tourist trap shots, Monchique, all the little beaches that you have to drive too that don't have any hotels nearby.

I've been through my Flickr stream and updated every shot taken in portugal with the tag 'portugal' but they are taking a while to update in the search of my stream. If this link works there should be 15 or more shots listed. If it doesn't, go to www.flickr.com/agentl and search just on my stream for portugal.

We visited the marina in Villamoura, it was a lot nicer than Albufeira in terms of the restaurants etc, but for photos its standard tourist fare really as you say!

Did she come free with the Nikon? Seriously though, be interested on your thoughts as I am thinking of upgrading to the D90 (currently D40x).

I was going for a much more pro look on these shots. The fact that it was a public event and very crowded led to distracting backgrounds. I need to re-work the second shot a little to tidy it up but am pretty happy with how they came out.

well, this is the first Nikon I have used. So far, I'm loving it. everything is so much more thought out, and easier to use. The D90 is bulky and fits perfectly into my manly hands instead of feelign crippled and cramped like in the 450d. One thing i like lots is that in full manual mode, i now have a jog dial on the front to control shutter speed, and one on the back to control apperture. it makes manual life so much easier than the 450. where it would take a few secs to get set up right. now i can do everythign much more fluidly and simply. if i loved my Canon 450d (which i very much did) I'm over the moon about my switch to the Nikon D90.

well, out of all my friends that i know locally, i am the only Canoneer. so this way i get to borrow lenses etc that i wouldnt otherwise be able to get my mitts on. so when the opportunity came to trade my stuff for someone with a d90 came along, i took it.
