Bloodborne - GOTD edition

Probably around 7-8 tries on both. The hints outside saying "try fire" were useful. BSB I tried a few times, but levelled up a bit as the attack he does where he grabs and poisons you could kill me in one go. So I needed to buy enough time to use antidote and restore my health should that happen.

I've come back to Bloodborne while I wait for the Switch to tackle the Chalice Dungeons in full.

Currently on the Cursed and Defiled Chalice. Trying to defeat Watchdog of the Old Lords on half health is bloody tough. Almost got him down last night, had him at a sliver of health only to be one-shot killed by his dash attack.

It's making me crave a sequel though.

I tried reinstalling this recently so I could finally try and finish it. Unfortunately, when I try and load my save game it hits me with the dreaded message 'Game install incomplete, cannot load save game'. I don't get this because i patched it up to what I assume is the latest version (1.09?) but no matter what method I try from the solutions I googled, I can't load my save game. Shame, but it looks like I won't be playing it anymore because I don't want to start again :(

Any ideas that might help? I'm trying to reinstall it yet again to see if that works but I don't know if it will..

Just rebooting the game worked for me, that really sucks :(

After taking a year or so off I've returned to my NG+5 save file and triumphantly finished it :D That leaves me at the max difficulty level of NG+6, at level 252 currently. I breezed through the first through bosses, but got stuck at the vicar for about three days, finally beat her this morning. I don't think I'll have as much trouble with the Shadows and Rom, I've fought them tonnes of times. Nearly done with my silly challenge to myself though :)

Edit: Here's the Cleric Beast, piece of piss on any difficulty:

Good skills Broker, the way you took Rom down in your video was very nicely done. I just lose my shit and panic but you handled that very calmly.

This might've taken over Dark as my all time favourite game and Fromsoft's masterpiece. It doesn't sag or lose its way like Dark did after Anal Rodeo, it's just so solid and consistently amazing. The movement and combat mechanics themselves feel so addictive and fun to use, you never get bored of landing a visceral or staggering an enemy with your gun. That's the core of a game to me. In, say, the new Tomb Raider, you don't feel that joy of controlling your character, there's a disconnection there somehow. In Bloodborne it's the total opposite, it reminds me of being in total control of the ship in Defender or something, where you're mastering the art of flinging your ship around and annihilating the enemy at the same time. It's a very pure and thrilling connection. BB has that same rewarding feel of mastery and control, progress and your skills developing.

Miyazaki = God.

I managed to get my save game to work, thankfully. For anyone who has the same issue as me where you reinstall the game, patch it and then get a message saying 'Can't load saved game, game install incomplete' - the solution that worked for me was to copy my save file from PS4 to USB flash drive, then delete it off the PS4 and copy it back from the USB drive to my PS4 (a slight variation on what @JohnnyRyall suggested above). This solved the problem and I can now load my save as normal.

Appreciate the help and advice I was given in here. Now to familiarise myself with the game again and work out where the hell I was when I stopped playing!

Glad you got it sorted Coltrane. I lost 300+ hours of Dark Souls when the HD in my 360 shat the bed, that feeling of loss was worse than seeing a favourite pet get run over. I still mourn for my female pyro build with Quelaag's sword. I spent easily 100 hours on that build alone.

Thanks. It sucks that you lost your Dark Souls save, though. Sorry to hear that. I guess hard drive failures are one of the reasons why features like cloud saving was introduced with the current console gen. Even if my local save for Bloodborne had been corrupted I still had one in the cloud to fall back on, thankfully.

I've since put another 400+ hours into the PS3 version of Dark, but yeah, back up those saves everyone.

@englishbob are any of the other scores from BB performed like that? Sounds incredible.

God watching my girlfriend fight OoK is horrible. She's doing well and I want to help but I just keep screaming and making her more nervous. I physically cannot watch someone fighting him without going "oh god" whenever he moves weirdly.

On the upside, she's got him, Lawrence and GtfH to do and she's finished the game soloing every boss. So proud.

In-case some of you have not been dipping into the new PS4 firmware beta or the PS4 Pro thread, it looks like great news if you are a Pro owner! :)

Unsure about frameskipping, will have to await some DF analysis. They will have a busy weekend no doubt.

So I started playing this again recently. When I left it around a year ago, I was quite far into the game it seems. I've now got to the Micolash boss fight and had a couple of attempts at it last night. I had read that it's supposed to be a puzzle fight and after my first aborted attempt, the second one was going pretty well until it got to the second stage. After he jumped in the mirror I went opposite him past the area with a long drop above the bridge you come in on, and turned right through a small gap into a room with a hole in the floor through which you are *apparently* supposed to drop into to fight him. Only I can't seem to catch him or find him in the second stage..Is there something obvious I'm missing or somewhere I'm supposed to go so it's easier to confront him?

you are on the right track, chase him around poking him in the bum until he goes into that room with the hole in the roof and drops a gate to stop you following. Then you go around and drop in via the roof and twat him right up.

Ah ok, that makes sense. Thanks, I'll try that :)

Think I'm nearly done with NG. Every boss down except the total prick Kos, must've died to him 30+ times last night, he's just so fast and aggressive. Hung around the fog door for ages but no summons at all, not even an NPC hunter to help.

Apart from that I have the items for the proper ending, all other bosses and optional areas done, a nicely levelled STR build at 71 and a +10 Saw Cleaver as my main weapon. Done loads of co-op, both summoning and helping, completed all the main quest lines and NPC stuff.

Going to try taking Kos down again tonight, if not I'm going straight into NG+ and might also roll a Skill build.

One thing I noticed in the trophies is how few people have won the trophies for early bosses - most boss trophies have fewer than 25% players receiving them. Quitters!

@Coltrane - Micolash is harder if your insight is high, with lower insight he doesn't do that annoying thing where he jumps into the mirrors. Spend some insight if you can afford it, made it a less stressful fight for me.

I only have 2 insight right now. He still jumps in the mirror. I did have high insight but lost most of it to those brain suckers in UCW.

Shit, really? Pretty sure I read that in the guide. Maybe it's random?

Yeah, I think he's been patched because he used to be susceptible to being cheesed with poison knives and ranged attacks but I tried throwing poison knives at him and he's completely immune to them it seems.

I'll check what the guide says as I have a copy but it might be inaccurate now if he's been changed.

NG+ in full swing, done Amelia (summoned help and used the NPC hunter), opened up the DLC (not sure if I needed the item for that or if it carried over) and started pumping points into Skill. Trying to do all the NPC questlines that I missed, especially Arthur's that I was gutted to have messed up the first time around.

Amazing how quickly you get through the game on NG+, I'm bombing around, not getting too cocky but destroying most of the enemies in the levels and feeling like a total badass. The bosses are another matter though and I can see myself summoning for most of them, but I'm making up for that by helping out where I can - I actually really love the Blood Starved Beast fight now and must've helped out 30 times with that boss.

I can easily see myself looping this a good few times and not getting bored at all.

Edit: Couldn't kill Kos on NG to my eternal shame. Hated leaving him alive when the game concluded knowing that he's still there, hanging out on that beach. I can't even begin to imagine how aggressive and how hard he'll hit on NG+

A few updates from my Bloodborne play-through.

The Witch of Hemwick

I took my sweet time with this boss (so much so that the video misses the first couple of minutes), but beat it on the first try. I really enjoyed this battle. So much so that I stuck around and offered my services as a co-op partner to others. After a few more attempts, I could finish this boss off in about two minutes with a partner.

Vicar Amelia

No video for this one. I was struggling a bit and really not getting anywhere fast. I ended up summoning help to beat them.

Shadow of Yharnam

Very happy with this fight. I beat them on my second attempt (I lasted about three seconds on my first go). Another enjoyable one. I don't mind the multiple enemy bosses so long as you have the space to move around and manage them. I don't have much more to add really.

Rom, the Vacuous Spider

Another one that I struggled with. It took me about 8-10 tries. I allowed myself to be summoned to try and get a bit of practice with someone else taking a bit or the heat away. Then tried it solo a few times and wasn't getting very far. So tried summoning help which was next to useless as they all seemed to die pretty early on. Then I went back to solo. I took my time, kept my distance looking for the gaps to get in and hit Rom once and run out. It seemed to work, although I died about two seconds after dealing the killer blow. But win is a win.
