*NEW* BEGINNER’S GUIDE FOR NEW PLAYERS

ABOUT

Quote

THE SIEGE GAMEPLAY

The Siege is a brand-new style of gameplay embracing the reality of counter-terrorist operatives across the world: intense and asymmetrical close-quarters combat between attackers and defenders.

As a defender, you will have the means to transform your environment into strongholds to prevent the attackers from breaching.
As an attacker, you will have many planning options to face this challenge and defuse these situations.

COUNTER-TERRORIST UNIT OPERATORS

Rainbow Six is an elite team composed of members of the best Special Forces units from around the globe:
• The British SAS
• The American SWAT
• The French GIGN
• The German GSG9
• The Russian Spetsnaz

Trained to operate in tight formations in indoor environments, they are experts of close quarter combat, demolition, and coordinated assaults.

DESTRUCTION AS A TOOL

Destruction is at the heart of the Siege gameplay.
Everything in the environment reacts realistically, dynamically, and uniquely based on the size and caliber of bullets you are using or the amount of explosives you have set.
Walls can be shattered, opening new lines of fire, and ceiling and floors can be breached, creating new access points. Mastering the art of destruction is often the key to victory.

TEAM-BASED GAMEPLAY

In Rainbow Six Siege, coordination is often the key to victory.
Team up with your friends and get the ultimate multiplayer experience! Fight in intense PVP or PVE encounters in closed environment and dominate the enemy team by choosing the right tactics.
Forge your team for optimal team coordination, and create the best strategies to become the master of destruction.

Basically this is the game the shooter fan in me has been wanting for years. Maybe I'm on the wrong forum but my reaction was definitely the same as Aisha's.

Like I said in the other thread, the whole Watch Dogs reveal thing is still fresh in my mind (and Far Cry 3 before that).

On the Giant Bomb stream most of the panel immediately declared it was bullshit and I tend to agree with them.

Looked really cool, payday/left for dead style gameplay. Shame the person 'playing' it was terrible and couldn't shoot at anything.

This is it though, Payday/Left 4 Dead has a lot of things to elongate the matches, a map to traverse, constant stream of enemies, bigger objectives - from what we saw this was 5v5 equally matched people in a relatively small environment and no re-spawns. There's the option for tactics but more than likely it'll turn into a straight forward gunfight that won't last very long.

We'll see how it pans out but as it was shown I can't imagine it'd be very fun 95% of the time. Hope I'm wrong.

It may turn out to be a straight run and gun for many, but imagine a RLLMUK team with the level of tactical and cooperative play people from here have in Batters - in a 5V5 killhouse style map like that. We'd steam roller anyone who tried to play it like COD. Dare to dream!

That'll be how it is best. Get a bunch of regulars together and play it properly and it will be brilliant.

I am assuming that is just a small sample of the game though, with a single player mode and a fair few other multiplayer modes, maps, etc.

If they give us what I saw in that trailer it'll be amazing dude!

Yeah I've seen that. What's the concept there exactly?

Home grown terrorists targetting those who exploit and abuse power. It was shown at a time when the rich and powerful were being bailed out, using tax evasion, expenses etc. - the "1%" - it plays on current day issues, so has meaning to it. This relaunch just seems like a more intense Counterstrike hostage mode (which is no bad thing).

having said that, they did say it's an alpha, so it could still be both!

Will keep an eye on this. Liked the Vegas game on 360. Not a big fan of the CoDs of this world, but I like the slower, more methodical approach this game seems to take. Hopefully it lives up to its promise, same with The Division.

This is how rainbow six 3 was on the Xbox and that got me into the online thing. Made some great buddies in those days. Started out playing survival mode. One life, all against all. Amazing experience where you were always on the edge as you had just one go. It was also unique in that there was proximity chat. Once your character was within 15ft of another character you could hear each other talk which led to some great exchanges of grown up trash talk (not halo kiddy talk). In the lobby all players that were out would be talking to each other while watching the remaining players and having a good laugh about the tactics they were seeing and making bets on how it would all end. It was great fun being the last two, spotting your prey and sneaking up behind them to execute them with a shot to the back of the head as you whisper "behind you" in their ear.

That's how I made my Xbox friends and that naturally evolved into team games of survival where we would team up against other teams. We all had our special moves we would do on each map and got some great games going against other random teams.

Great days where we would play until 2am going "just 1 more game" or angry launching a round because you wanted to finish on a high rather than an embarrassing defeat. The days would be spent thinking about last nights games and wondering if players x and y would be on tonight.

Man I miss that.
