Football thread 2014/15 season

It's possible that the figures are higher than they otherwise would be if Qatar wasn't undertaking so much construction, especially given the building of the new city of Lusail. However, it just further cements how unsuitable a host they are if, in order to host a football tournament, they need to engage in so much development work that they put significantly more lives at risk given the appalling safety conditions.

Having been to the Middle East with a civil engineer and seen large construction products the answer is much, much more simple.

They've bussed in a million foreign workers and they don't give a flying fuck what happens to them.

No decision yet, but I'm going to guess they'll suspend it as it'd be unfair on any team mid-table or above. They can continue with the lower leagues no worries, there will be a few players out (New Zealand had a player from Shrewsbury Town who was playing in front of tens out thousands and watched by millions, then back in League 2 in front of 5,000 a couple of months later), but they can start the league earlier and finish slightly later.

How would it be unfair, they've got nearly 8 years notice to decide what they want to do about it.

I enjoyed that match Neymar was very quiet but Messi & Suarez were a joy to watch. Good goal by City Aguero really wanted to get to that ball ahead of Bony.

Going to miss the champs league going to BTSports next season.

Lol, Messi REALLY can't score goals with his head.

That's what you'd think, which might explain the magnificently stupid face Edwin van der Sar (and probably a lot of United fans let's be honest) pulled when he did just that. Maybe it's just that he struggles with a simple 'put it back where it came from' situation, but gravity defying leaps to set up a glorious looped finish are no problem.

Phil Neville says a November 2022 World Cup could be the best thing ever for England, as it mean players will be fresher.

I'm assuming he thinks that the French, German, Italian, Dutch & Spanish leagues run from January to September or something.

He's right, for my money. Our players are knackered by the end of the season, but at that point Premier League players are almost certainly the fittest in the world.

not even moh, like mon arko. souness always gets his foreign teams wrong on purpose.

I'm watching an Australian stream and this guy is playing for Arsenal:
