Hopefully if Disney get the X-Men we can get a proper Wolverine. As in short, Canadian and masked. Jackman was always too tall which bothered me more than it should.

Same here, also hopefully Marvel wont fuck over poor Cyclops like Fox have over and over again.

This thread is like a litmus test for fanboys.

"Hmmmm, Disney is slowly monopolising the entertainment industry, and after a history of dodgy practices and the recent Anaheim stuff and this resulting in the Murdochs holding even more power this really isn’t a good thing.”

”We gonna get a CGI Galactus in a film and Wolverime will wear his proper costume, hyuck, hyuck, hyuck!!!!!!!”

It's like The Galactic Empire has taken over the Hutts, and as a result Sy Snootles, Oola and the Max Reebo Band are going to jam on the bridge of a Star Destroyer.

Forget about ethics. It's gonna be amazing.

They could actually use the FF and X-Men as a massive second wind for the MCU, instead of having to worry about replacing RDJ, Chris Evans et al when they stop coming back for just one more film.

Exactly

X-men and FF have so many awesome stories, more than Avengers.

I mean Avengers vs X-men would be the next "Avengers"

Of course, Avengers Vs X-Men highlighted the key problem with the X-Men and Avengers being in the same fictional world, though, when all Captain America could say was "sorry you're a persecuted minority and we did fuck all to help you lol!"

Yeah the story was dog shit but the idea would be $$$ for filthy casuals.

Namor rights bounced around when Blade was being put together, Universal got it in the mid-2000s when everyone seemed to fancy that superheroes might be a thing again after the success of Spiderman for Sony. They didn't do anything with it so presumably the rights went back to Marvel, but Universal have form for being clever with rights deals, hence no Hulk movies - Marvel can make all the Hulk movies they want, but Universal hold distribution rights. Namor might be similar.

And Feige has said a while back that there are various interests in Namor that make it a difficult property to deal with. Which could mean anything. But seemingly there's more than Universal in play, presumably Marvel split the rights when they nearly went under and other companies got bits of certain rights.

I can't see Namor being something they did much with anyway. He's a very niche (if cool in the right circumstances - he's a twat) character, and kinda silly, more so even than many others. Also Marvel's oldest character, but nobody cares.

Seems Marvel and Fox co-own the screen rights to them. According to James Gunn. I suppose he must be right when they are appearing in her movie. Though some specific Skrulls (like Super Skrull) are just Fox.

Skrulls were thought to be completely connected with the Fantastic 4 rights because seemingly most of the major 'cosmic' stuff went with those rights (I think they even have stuff like Shiar and Badoon races it's been speculated), but as others have said it now seems that the Fox rights extend to specific characters only.

They are definitely appearing in Captain Marvel, at SDCC Marvel showed off some (pretty comic accurate) concept art of Skrulls for the film.

There’s a lawyer in a board room somewhere who has to agonise over whether a Skrull is too good to just be a regular Skrull as far as rights are concerned?

I can already see what's gonna happen.

Kevin Feige shows up on stage after Infinity War is out at some big name comic-con, reveals the words "Phase 4" on the screen. The four slowly shifts into the Fantastic Four logo.

Crowd collectively shits itself.

The geek on me is overjoyed at the marvel characters all joining the next phase of the MCU, also the fact we might also get an unaltered blu ray of Star Wars OT.

I do worry about the power Disney now wields - they effectively control every major movie franchise.
