Nice video breakdown. I think he looks really good. Out of everybody so far he's certainly the one I'm most interested in using.

And of course anybody banging on about 9/11 with any seriousness is a fucking idiot at best, and outing themselves as a racist at worst.

Maximilian has done a reaction video mostly focusing on the moveset, but he did make a jokey remark about the 9/11 comments being a bit daft, and that Japanese fightman Ryu was revealed a day before the anniversary of Pearl Harbour and no-one made a fuss about that. ;)

Visual design aside, the character's moves look great, and it's nice to see another original character in addition to the series mainstays and old favourites like Charlie and Mika. :)

Some of the complaints are from people who feel it's potentially offensive to Arabs. Cammy's not a cultural stereotype, and Dudley - despite his speech and roses - ain't white. Hakan's a Turkish oil wrestler, but also a hench Windsor Davies. And red.

A closer equivalent would be David Cameron in a fox-hunting outfit, QCFing coins at proles.

Dunno; both Rachid and Necalli look like they are straight from an obscure early 90s Korean Street Fighter/ World Heroes rip-off.

For Rashid they were obviously inspired by Mike, the tornado-themed fighter from Body Blows.

Oh look, someone's MUGEN'd him into a fight against Juii! And this happens to be the best screenshot of one of his spectacular wind-based attacks that I can find online:

Dhalsim's a fair bit worse than Hakan, I'd say, but he's from over twenty years ago. I wonder how Rufus would've been received without Ken. As it is, I don't recall anyone from the US having a problem.

The more that foreign stereotypes become diluted by our Internet access, the higher the risk is of causing offence by simplifying. I've wanted an Arab character for ages, but Shaheen and Rashid are straight out of 1980s' Hollywood. Capcom have always done this, but isn't it time to move on?

Man, after watching the Winnerstayson stream last night I could not be more excited for Rashid. He looks like so much fun. Love the fireballs, love the spinning mixer pressure, the overhead and the V-Trigger is just the greatest thing. I know I'm repeating myself, but I am such a huge fan of Yoga Catastrophe/Aegis Reflector style "here's a big thing I've dumped on the screen, deal with it" mechanics, and his looks to be beautifully implemented. Space control, pressure, corner escapes and even extra mobility because it propels him if he jumps into it. It looks similar to Yoga Catastrophe in that it should be nearly impossible to waste it even if it doesn't lead to damage. Love it.

My only concern at the moment is that some of his normals look to be a bit lacking. Aside from Birdie he's the new character I'm most excited about, but the only thing I like more than stuff-on-the-screen is good buttons. I get that he has a ton of mobility and good anti-fireball options, but if I can't play footsies with him at all then ultimately I won't enjoy playing him so much. I hope he's not too Elf/Viper-y in that regard and can play Streetfighter as well as doing all the crazy parkour stuff.

I guess the rumours are likely correct and we should expect Alex and Urien too?

That's what has most excited me about this reveal because Urien would be just wonderful. I'm not especially bothered by Alex, I'd rather have Q (I really think he'd fit the game well) but that's just not going to happen.

The Capcom Fighters Network (CFN) is a community building tool that will be directly built into the online infrastructure of Street Fighter V.

Here is a list of some of the things that you’ll be able to do in-game via CFN:

See where battles are happening all over the world on a “heat map”

View player profiles and detailed match statistics

Designate “rivals” throughout the world and monitor their performance

Register friends and follow your favorite players

Search and watch replay files

Send online battle invitations

Check out the latest patch and tournament news

Karin doesn't look to have been re-invented too much, which is fine as I think she has a really fun set of tools and normals in Alpha 3 anyway. Was wondering how they were going to implement her rekkas with all the branching enders. Looks like she has to activate V-Trigger to use them, which is fair enough as it gives her some extremely potent pressure options. Pretty happy with the reveal. Would like to see an all out zoner/Dhalsim type in the initial roster as well though. Maybe one of the other brand new characters will fill that role.

I am imagining it or does Karin seem to have a few of VF Akira's classic signature moves there? Or maybe she always did and I just never noticed but either way, cool.

She's definitely got a load of Bajiquan moves like Akira and Leo/Julia from Tekken... which means I might have to use her on principle, bloody love me some shoulder checks.

OTOH Rashid looks nuts in the best possible ways.. I've been really impressed by the movesets of the characters they've released, there's nobody outright boring, my character paralysis is already immense.

Second beta will feature cross-play between PlayStation 4 and PC. Therefore the system requirements have been announced:

This is what you'll need to hadouken a guy in the junk:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i3-4160 @ 3.6 GHz
RAM: 6 GB
Video: Nvidia GTX 480 or higher
Sound: DirectX-compatible sound card or onboard chipset
DirectX: Version 11
Internet: Broadband connection required
And here's what you'll need to hadouken a guy in the junk really hard:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K @3.50GHz
RAM: 8 GB
Video: Nvidia GTX 960
Sound: DirectX-compatible sound card or onboard chipset
DirectX: Version 11
Internet: Broadband connection required

AFAIK the only way to participate in the PC beta is to pre-purchase the game. On Steam itself the price is hilarious though, Capcom has got to be kidding (60 euros, I'm not sure whether the British price is equally ridiculous)
