Street Fighter V Champion Edition

gootecks has released a Kindle book about preparing for SFV...

Are you tired of losing and feeling lost when you play Street Fighter?

Are you sick of getting beat down almost every time you play? Do you struggle against other players that you feel you should be beating? Do you want to step your game up and destroy the competition when Street Fighter 5 drops?
If so, Simplifying Street Fighter is a guide designed for you, the newcomer, to hone your skills in Street Fighter 4 so you can be better prepared for Street Fighter 5 when it releases in 2016. If you're like most players, you struggle with nearly every aspect of the game: offense, defense, execution and combos, and generally having a game plan that is more complex than just mashing buttons at every opportunity.
(...)
Through working with my students, I've developed what I believe to be an extremely effective method of learning how to play Street Fighter. This method is based on the idea of learning one tiny aspect of the game at a time through the eyes of the poster boy of Street Fighter, Ryu.
So yeah, it sounds like it's going to be a Street Fighter 101 via Ryu, which is no surprise - he's always been the best character to pick when learning the fundamentals. Then again, there are tons of learning resources online already, so I'm kind of curious to see how it sets itself apart from everything else (not that I have anything that supports Kindle content :P )

If you are in the UK you need to download it from UK Amazon as the US store won't let you even though it is free on both of them. IIRC he did a similar guide when IV came out for players transitioning from 3rd Strike.

I haven't read it yet but his last guide was a good one.

There's a couple of examples of Birdie cancelling his Bull Head into V Trigger for a little extra damage (and a safe activation) in this video. I'd heard it could be used as anti-air in the latest build but I didn't know it could be used to extend combos:

And here's Capcom UK's session from last week showing off R Mika and Rashid. Both characters look loads of fun to play. The actual matches start about 37 and a half minutes into this video; they're just showing off both characters' move-set until then. There's a part two as well. Hours of fightings.

Free? It's a few quid.. (free if you have prime though)

I'd like to see another 360 grappler type in there, like Hugo, Thawk or Gief (Mika arguably had one or two 360 moves in Alpha, but it sounds like she only has quarter and half-circle specials at the moment, unless some moves get patched or something...)

Thanks Capcom

What the heck is that thing at 0:29 then? Red focus? Parry?

Who wanted this? >_>

I could understand folk wanting to see characters who aren't from Street Fighters II or IV return but man, 'gief looks magnificent in that trailer. He even cuddles you close to let you know he has "Muscle-power for you!" before he crushes your bones with muscle and power.

His VSkill is that standing headbutt, I guess? For negating projectiles and probably a low damage, high stun attack if you hit someone with it? It's a pretty underwhelming VSkill if so, a bit like Nash's.

The Redness is probably the VTrigger? A brief hyper-armour mode where he can absorb as many physical hits as he likes? He has something similar in MvC2, right? I wonder if being in that mode is what changed the properties of Lariat to that angled one or if that's just a new move?

Loving the aerial EX grabs, though, and what looks like a decent anti-air normal. And all the cuddles.

EDIT: I was wrong about the VSkill and VTrigger! From Playstation Blog:

V-Skill: Iron Muscle

Zangief shows the true power of his body when he activates Iron Muscle. During Iron Muscle, Zangief can absorb one attack, which leaves him with recoverable health.
If players hold down medium punch and medium kick and then press a direction on the stick, Zangief will begin to slowly close in on the opponent. Upon release from the walk, Zangief flexes his muscles and hits the opponent if close enough.
V-Trigger: Cyclone Lariat
Zangief lives up to his name “the Iron Cyclone” as he spins with high speed and velocity, pulling the opponent in close. If the player taps the V-Trigger activation buttons, Zangief will quickly spin and pull in the opponent. If the player holds the V-Trigger activation buttons, Zangief will continue to spin and hit the opponent multiple times
Apparently he's playable on the show floor at this weekend's Russian Comic Con. I'm looking foreward to seeing the practical uses o' his new tools. He does an SPD after the VSkill in the trailer wheras the blog says he "hits the opponent if close enough". Probably useful for gaining ground through fireballs too.

Bears in the stage background, excellent. Now al Gief needs is his scuba outfit.

Best outfit in IV bar none.

In a game without any really strong looking zoners so far.. Gief could be terrifying. Mid air SPD is the greatest thing ever.

I thought it was some kind of weird cross-promotion with Katy Perry.

I'm kind of pleased Zangief's in, even though there are others I prefer. I've always wanted to play as him, but there's basically no way to be any good with him (I've found) on a pad - most of my spinning piledriver attempts end up as neutral/back jumps instead. One day though...
