Ono went right into addressing the elephant in the room -- the inclusion, or lack thereof, Alex in Street Fighter 5. "I was made very aware how much you guys want Alex. So, I will definitely take that with me to Japan," Ono said. A new stage was revealed too, and Ono has confirmed that Alex can be seen in the background... I'm pretty disappointing at the complete lack of SF3 characters from the starting roster. For a game meant to bridge the series timeline trotting out the same old Super Stereotype Fighter characters again is a major bummer. Couldn't they at least have aged them somewhat to mark the passage of time, they could have done some great things with Zangief . I bet it'll be bloody same old Dhalsim next. JLM Posted October 12, 2015 Share Posted October 12, 2015 Alex should have spent his Tatsunoko money more wisely. I still don't get why there's such demand for him to come back. For me he's the least interesting 3S character and SFV already has plenty of folks with command grabs. If we're trying not to use SF3 characters who have featured recently, I'd still rather see Urien, Oro, Necro, Twelve or Q ahead of him. Even Remy actually, as Nash is not even remotely Guile-like in this game and there's certainly a spot for him. Laura looks really good fun. Saw 801Strider use her in the SFV exhibition at SoCal regionals and he already had some cool looking day zero stuff. Her cr. MK looks good, the fireball is wonderful and she has lots of fun looking mobility options to help her get her stuff started. I like that her fireball neutralises others' after she's recovered from summoning it, so you can do Guile-esque punishes when you both fireball at close-ish range. Seen a few clips where she'll put it up , the opponent will chuck a fireball into it to challenge it and she'll punish/mix them up for doing so. I like. Her corner control looks absolutely nuts. Strider was putting the fireball up, harassing with cr.MK and then stepping in and out of range trying to counter hit people with the big knee she has that looks like Bison's. Then she's got the guacamole grab if they try to jump out and a command grab if she conditions them to sit still. Looks pretty scary. Still not a character leaping out to me as a choice for a main though. I'm going to play a lot more Birdie, very keen to try out Rashid but don't think he'll have the normals I want from a character and then outside of that there are plenty who look fun but no one standing out as someone I'm going to play for hundreds of hours. I'm sure more time with the game will change that of course, plus there are more reveals to come. Can we have a couple of lame characters next please? Bonchan, Kazunoko, Mago, Momochi, Dakou, Xiaohai, Fuudo and loads of notable American mans. Also Reiketsu and his excellent Vega. They did a single elim 8 man SF5 tournament on the second day with Snake Eyes playing Gief (though apparently he's really not a fan of SFV Gief at this early stage), 801Strider playing Laura and PR Rog and Kazunoko playing Karin. Of course I'll end up using Ryu, but I'm worried his V-Skill parry means I'll never make great use of him, likewise I love the look of Karin (who can resist the noblewoman's laugh?) but I'm worried she might be too technically demanding. Her combos look fun, in a very SFxT way, though. I'm thinking maybe I'll throw my lot in with Lisa. Never really played a grabbler before, so she might be a good place to start for me since she's got a lovely cr.MK and a projectile. And terrible damage on her grabs. I think it's what the launch roster now needs to feel a bit more complete. Rashid is the closest thing I can see as a potential favourite for me - shades of Juri and Cody in some of those specials.
