Street Fighter V Champion Edition

I really can't see Guile coming any time soon. Though he plays very differently, Charlie has nicked a LOT of his moves.

Good riddance.

I do have a sneaky suspicion that Vega is going to be very, very good in this. SF4 was an anomoly, he's a beast in every other game he's been in, and with less emphasis on oki and setups, and FINALLY giving him decent anti-air options, he's liable to maul the likes of Gief and Bipson

Yeah I think he's going to require careful balancing. He has a couple of options that are only tempered in IV by him being a charge character. With those restrictions removed I feel like he could be a real problem. The rolling crystal flash pressure in particular looks nuts. He is at perfect spacing to continue harassing after it's blocked and it appears to be completely safe as well. Then he can turn any poke into a special and an opportunity without the burden of holding charge. Obviously the game isn't real yet and it's too early to start making big claims about character strength etc, but of those revealed so far he looks the most likely to be a problem when the game drops.

Necalli

Found that Valiant Rebellion - the stomp move - is QCF+K, and if you perform it with roundhouse they get launched into the air so that you can follow up with Raging Light - the rising tomahawk buster move (DP with punch). Roundhouse VR into Fierce RL currently seems like the most effective way to get the follow-up but you don't have loads of time to perform it before they've fallen below the move's hitbox...

Is this just for people who got onto the first beta?

No, but if you were in the first beta you're automatically in the second beta. You could sign up for the second beta on PS4 using this link since a few weeks ago, but I don't know whether you're too late for that. I would guess so, since the beta starts in a few hours or apparently is already live. If you're on PC you can only get in the beta (which starts tomorrow for PC players including crossplay) by pre-purchasing the game on Steam. Therefore you can't be too late for the PC beta, you buy the game and you're in. 360 arcade sticks work perfectly on PC btw.

Have any nice prices popped up for the PC version? I've not been paying attention. £30ish seems the best at the moment from a quick glance.

Be very careful with those cheap deals on PC - the game itself isn't out until spring 2016 but if you're pre-purchasing for the beta, you'll need a key RIGHT NOW. If you buy from a cheap reseller and they're only going to give you the key sometime next year, then you're fucked if you wanted to get in on the beta fun.

So it's looking like Laura is my first choice for main at the moment after watching this dude's video http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2015/oct/20/see-all-lauras-normals-specials-and-target-combos-action/ showcasing all of her tools. She seems to have the most tools that suit my playstyle. She has some decent buttons (that cr. MK ), relatively safe soul spiral-ish pressure and an excellent thing-on-the-screen lockdown tool. Fun mobility options too. I think her linear movement V-skill would be a good substitute for Rose's forward/back dashes in terms of mid screen movement options. I do love a good dash in grab/counter hit shenanigan. So yeah, a lot of the stuff I like about Rose is in there, even if on the face of it she's a completely different type of character. Her anti-air normals look a bit suspect but aside from that I'm fairly sold.

It's really nice to have CPU training as well - in the initial beta you were fairly limited in your dummy options and online opposition doesn't really care about experimentation, but now you can safely try out certain situational combos and tricks against slightly more exploitable AI. :)

A good point. Although I don't think I want to pay £15 for the beta.

I should really play USFIV at some point, but I lost track of it. A fairly level playing field at the beginning is always more fun.

You are unlikely to get a beta code I would gather, but Shopto are doing the PC version preorder for £26.85

Just been trying the different levels of R. Mika's "Heated Mic Performance" V.Skill against a training dummy. As you hold the buttons Mika continues her monologue and you see little pulses come from the mic that presumably signal an increase in power for her throws. I tested the differences to her normal throw (LP+LK) at certain levels with the attack data on:

one pulse: 228

two pulses: 260

three pulses: 325

four pulses: 390

five pulses: 520

six pulses: 650

seven pulses (final is big pulse): 1300

I haven't looked too much into the duration between pulses yet, but it could allow for a level of "afk" trolling similar to charged turn punches in SFIV :D

Can Necalli manage any ambiguous cross-under filth after that stomp pop-up?

I found moving quickly after recovery pretty difficult but I'm sure people better than me will come up with other follow-ups... :)

Mika charges to level two in less than a second it seems to be the sweet spot. Powers up her normal throws, all her command throws including the anti-air, and her Super as well.

Does go away if you whiff a throw or get hit, sadly.

I didn't get into the EU beta (and was a very grumpy bunny) but this post on reddit...

https://www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/3po1a1/if_you_signed_up_in_the_2nd_beta_in_eu_try_this/

worked for me (and others) and I got a code. It almost seems like everyone got a code but they only emailed a select number of people. Anyway, can't wait to get home and give it a go tonight.

There was a further update to that post:

UPDATE 10/21:

Hey everyone. We have a quick update regarding the SFV beta 2 test user experience. As many of you have noticed, we started testing earlier than scheduled, in an effort to optimize prior to our regularly scheduled beta dates. Unfortunately, several new issues arose last night in regards to our match-making system and the rate at which matches were made, and we are not confident that the matchmaking rate will improve significantly throughout the course of this beta period. That said, user experiences will vary.

As such, we want to inform our users that the beta 2 experience will likely be limited and will not operate exactly as we intended. As planned, we will keep the servers up for the previously-announced timeframes, however, matchmaking will likely take place very slowly. While players wait for online matches, they are free to access training mode, and there are new features added to this version that allow players to change the training dummy to be computer AI, or be playable by a friend locally.

The PS4 beta is live now and the PC beta will begin at its previously scheduled time on 10/23/15 at 9:00am PST (17:00 BST and 10/24 01:00 JST). Following this beta and throughout the optimization process, we will continue to periodically turn on our servers for players to access, so keep your eyes open for new opportunities to play more SFV. Our goal is to provide the highest quality user experience as possible when the final product releases, and we thank you for your continued support.

So basically, everything should be working now but it'll just be slow. Glad we're experiencing this now then and hopefully not when the game launches!

Why not? How do I fix this?

So I had tried the link a few days back and got exactly that message myself - I went off in a huff. I assumed the reddit link one was a different address which had magically worked but perhaps it's not. Interestingly, I've just received an email saying I got into the beta so it could be that they are releasing a fresh batch and it's rolling out gradually with some delays on the email. I'd say keep checking basically.
