I didn't see the match but those averages are absurd over such a long format, though I'm assuming Barney's is so high as he rarely got to the doubles which lower your numbers considerably.

 

MvG though seems to play in bursts on another level to the rest of them, sets up a great final today

Nope, Barney got to doubles, his numbers were legit. MVG had a crap 1st set average too, and dragged it up to 114...discounting that set it would have been 1 or 2 points higher.

Could well be another 7-6er here. Not the best darts I've seen but the way MVG levelled like that was ridiculous.

Whoever wins this will simply be the first to 7, and I mean that in the way that first to 8 might be the other one, first to 9 the other again, and so on. Literally as good as each other, the 2 undisputed best.

Yep. Great game. MVG and Anderson both gracious towards each other at the end too which is nice to see.

Yeah, plenty of respect shown which is nice for the final. I enjoyed MVG saying Gary and Barney had been the 2 people who beat him in the last couple of years, so it's poetic justice that he won it the way he did, and now he has 2 worlds.

Its been a crazy PDC tournament. I feel sorry for MVG he has the the talent to win everything it just goes wonky sometimes at Ally Pally. Cross played out of his skin and won an epic Semi. Poor Jamie Lewis fell apart under the pressure against Phil.

 

I've always rooted against Taylor. I like to support the underdog but for him to go out on a world title would be a fitting end to an incredible career.

Taylor is/was amazing player but a horrible piece of shit as a person - he was at it again on stage last night with his stupid gurning to the crowd (I think like Hilary Clinton a lot of the time he's not even waving or gesturing at anybody in particular he knows, he's just clowning to try and put off his opponent), he even tried to head rub Cross (made me think of Gary Anderson) at one point after the glass got dropped, but Cross played it well and pulled back and hardly made eye contact with him. 

 

Darts is a pretty competitive and cut throat sport now, I can't fathom how somebody can come out of nowhere as only an 11 month pro and win the title playing so well - he didn't fluke it, he beat MvG then averaged 107 in the final. To not only have the skill but temperament to handle it so well is amazing.

Im super biased, but the way Phil was acting against Anderson was out of order. And it took the shine off a good performance. Taylor deserves everything hes done but im happier that Cross won the title.

Cross kept his composure so well it was really impressive. The glass drop kinda broke the ice, Phil’s fist bump probably relaxed him a bit and he just went for it, just taking out everything. They said Phil averaged well but he didn’t get chance for doubles since Cross was so good.
