Formula One - 2015 Season

I must admit I was expecting the camera to cut to Rosberg running down an escape road or across the grass at the end there. Fair play though - he deserved that one. Nice to seem him getting a decent reaction from the crowd for once too!

Plus hey, let's face it, if we want exciting races then someone being able to fight Lewis on occasion in the same car is good news.

Shame it never turned into a Bahrain 2014-esque battle, though. Would have been fun.

Sorry, no review this week as i have been enjoying myself rather too much with friends and family this weekend.
So whilst I was watching the race, I wasn’t really concentrating on it too hard.
Nico made no mistakes for a change and looked pretty much in control the whole weekend. Lewis certainly didn’t gift him a win, but i don’t think he really gave it the beans off the start line.
Vettel and Ferrari looked like they had a bit of a shocker, the German driver looked like a recent GP2 graduate at times.
The highlight though was the roar from the crowd whenever Perez overtook someone, A track needs a vocal crowd to give it some atmosphere. and the Mexican certainly looke dliek they were enjoying the event.
ok, so here are the results.
And oh my word King A fumbles the ball on the try line !! a pathetic 9 points to Roskellds 13 and Jonny5s 12 and suddenly the King is back to third.
This thing is going all the way to the line chaps.
Congratulations to Valver this week with a highly commendable 25 points. Clearly a Nico fan !!

Holy crap... :o

Red Bull are fucked. After DM's comments they deserve it too. I really am starting to think this is it for them.

http://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12475/10054104/red-bull-owner-dietrich-mateschitz-rules-out-using-renault-engines-in-2016

Mateschitz stressed after the race: "We have cancelled the contract [with Renault]."

According to Speedweek, an in-house magazine which Red Bull own, the deal has been terminated because of Renault's 'hopelessness'.

'The reasons have been clear for half a year. Renault are not willing and able to develop a reliable and competitive power unit,' the publication states.

'Even after two years of development it lacks around 80hp to the Mercedes and its reliability is of pitiful proportions.

'The disappointment with the performance and the posturing of the French are huge. Instead of improving after the 2014 season, Renault has further fallen behind Mercedes.'

At the time of their last world title 2 whole years ago (who can even remember that long), Renault had won 23 world titles in 21 years with 3 or 4 different teams depending on how picky you want to be.

Yeah, they've no idea how to build a good engine. None at all.

A pity but you can only hang around the Williams garage for so long. Indycar would have meant her and Totto hardley ever being together.

My guess? I recon she'll become one of Sky's roving pundits (like Senna and DiResta) so she can continue to be part of the circus and maybe a part of the F1 show.

It's a pity the F1 rules didn't allow for more testing. Yes she had experience but not enough. If the rules were more like they were in the early 2000's she could have done some serious milage for Williams and got a proper drive off the back of it.

She was never very good enough though, was she? In that, she is a competent professional driver who probably should have stuck to lower formula and attempted to win things.

It was just a marketing opportunity for Williams which has run its course.

Would love to see both sexes competing (and see no reason why they couldn't) - but she was never the one to do it.

I think I said a year or two ago it was highly unlikely she'd ever get a race seat now, just based on age; going on the averages for drivers she's been at her peak for a while and at 32 is now teetering on the edge of where they start losing that half a percent of performance which is a lifetime in F1 (but seems far less important in many other series). If you haven't had a regular race seat once you've passed your mid twenties you'll always get overlooked in favour of someone younger still thought to have the potential to improve vastly, or someone experienced who can be relied on to give a solid performance. The only vague hope would have been getting someone to bankroll a pay seat, which she possibly could have done due to her husband, but I assume didn't want to because of how it would be perceived.

Rather her than Maldonado.

Maldonado isn't good enough, no doubt. But he won the GP2 championship (and several races before then). He also won an actual Grand Prix.

Wolff won fuck all in every category she competed in bar a few podiums in Formula Renault in the early 2000's. Michèle Mouton she ain't.

She was solid midfield fodder, but more importantly she would have encouraged other women to become drivers.

And yeah she was better than Maldonardo, just not as well backed.

I think you are overhyping her. She wasn't midfield, she was back of the field in pretty much every series.

How was she better than Pastor? He actually won races in lower categories. And a championship in the feeder F1 series.

He's a complete maniac and a danger to himself and others, and he is better than her. Says all you need to know...

I think a talented female driver would be fantastic. But sticking an average (at best) driver in the F1 grid because they don't have a penis is ridiculous and possibly more harmful to the cause.

She'll go and win Le Mans now or something... ;)

"We have two issues, not enough young girls starting in karting at a young age and no clear role model. Sometimes you just have to see it to believe it."

Literally this, which is also why I'm not worried because successive women getting that little bit further I know first hand inspires girls to start.

And while there are missteps, such as Covkart persisting with their embarrassing "Best woman" trophy I get the impression that the women in karting are almost exclusively treated with absolute respect as equals. Or in my case usually as "Holly, that spec in the middle distance".

So I think it'll solve itself if we make sure we keep heading in this direction.

She wasn't world championship good but her times from whenever she did get hold of the car established she would certainly not be embarrassing. She could have scored points in the 2014 or 2015 Williams, which isn't a high bar but neither is it bad at all.

The DTM time didn't help her, she was never as good with a roof and people often missed she was generally in a 2 year old car being run on no money by a private team.

She's more experienced and successful than Lotus' PR stunt isn't she? And no I didn't mean Jolean Palmer

Carmen Jorda is an embarrasment to drivers of any gender.

Best example. At Spa in GP3 she was 7 seconds off the pace....

My favourite quote on Jorda came from her GP3 teammate when asked about her being hired as a development driver.

"She couldn't develop a roll of film".

After not finishing above 17th all year in her 3rd year of GP3, Dean Stoneman took over her car at no notice for a race.

Which he won.

... of the fastest woman. And over 8 off pole.

She was teammates with Paffett in 2008. He finished 4th in a year old car in a couple of races and picked up some decent-ish points.

Wolff's best position that season was 10th. Once.

Anyway, enough about her. For some reason she really annoys me!

The Jorta quote about the film is brilliant btw.
