I was tempted with Zzap Amiga, but already subscribe to Amiga Addict, Amiga Future, Retro Gamer and Crash. I can't justify yet another subscription.

There's only 1 issue at the moment and don't think this is a regular thing like those, its more of an A5 minibook.

P.S. We Love Amiga

The Amiga is a family of personal computers sold by Commodore in the 1980s and 1990s. Based on the Motorola 68000 family of microprocessors, the machine has a custom chipset with graphics and sound capabilities that were unprecedented for the price, and a pre-emptive multitasking operating system called AmigaOS. Although early Commodore advertisements attempt to cast the computer as an all-purpose business machine, especially when outfitted with the Amiga Sidecar PC compatibility add-on, the Amiga was most commercially successful as a home computer, with a wide range of games and creative software.

GODS Remastered is up on the Steam store sale for 71p. The license is ending soon so it will be delisted, I quite enjoyed my playthrough but worth a go at that price.

will it also disappear on the switch store?

Looks like it, they don't have a license to sell it anymore so being pulled completely. Will still remain in your libraries if you buy it but Steam is probably the safest bet as they never remove anything. Nintendo struggles to do one generation to the next on digital purchases 🤣

I bought the 79p version on PSN.

Haven't played it for years, but one thing that's confused me ... On world 1 stage 1, if you pull the switch to open the world door within 2 minutes, its supposed to move a platform so you can press the last "hidden" switch by the world door. I can't get it to work in this version though. Anyone know if it's broken?

You can hardly argue for 79p, but the remaster is not great. The new visuals are horrible, and the loading times are incredibly long - I'd almost say the loading times in the original were shorter and less frequent. And it doesn't have the original music, either.

Still, you can play using the original visuals, and it's not like I can't listen to the theme tune on youtube, or emulation.

Does anyone remember Crazy Sue. It was a platformer and it came free on a magazine (not one of the main ones, I think it was based in Europe) at a time when full games weren’t appearing on cover disks. Where I lived we didn’t have great access to new games so I remember my mate and I got into this game and spent a lot of time challenging each other on this. I don’t honestly recall if we finished it but I suspect yes although I assume today it hasn’t aged well as I recall it being a competent platformer but at this stage had never played super Mario 3 so my point of reference wasn’t great.

I played what I assume is the sequel quite a lot (Crazy Sue Goes On, was a PD version) and having a look on Youtube it has aged pretty well graphically, I remember it being super difficult so didn't stick with it all that long.

I’ve never heard of it but according to Wikipedia it was first released as a cover disk in Germany, then a year later was a cover disk on a different German mag. Then was on a public domain compilation. Looked like it wasn’t well known in the UK. Although 2 years after its debut on that German cover disk Amiga Power gave it 5/5 in a PD roundup.

Played that too! Was on the cover disk of short-lived Amiga Fun magazine, second half of 1990 I think. Reminded me of Balloon Kid on the Game Boy, but without the balloons.

I played it a few years later, probably sourced from an an Aminet CD or magazine CD (remember when websites were sold/given away on disc?).

Speaking of obscure platformers, I recently stumbled across Lollypop while watching Kim Justice's video on the topic. I can't find it mentioned in UK magazines of the time, though Amiga Joker (Germany) gave it 75% (according to Wikipedia). The game looks surprisingly good, with imaginative graphics and unusual level bosses (you fight a wardrobe in the clouds at one stage). There's a Youtube longplay in the spoiler.

Spoiler

Zool Redimensioned is also up on the store for £3.99. That's a pretty good remake and fixes a lot of the originals issues, lots of options to make it like the old one too. Think the sale finishes around 5pm for that so jump in quick.

The larger area of view fixes a problem all of these Sonic clones had (including the original Sonic) in that you can see what's coming and have a fair time to react.

The originals were too zoomed-in and completely relied on prior knowledge of the level instead of reaction speed.
