deKay
Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows is a free expansion for Shovel Knight, a sweeping classic action adventure game that won over 70 Game of the Year Awards in 2014. You play as Plague Knight, the villainous master of alchemy, in a quest all his own. Using his maniacal scientific mind, Plague Knight is seeking to concoct Serum Supernus, the Ultimate Potion. However, to retrieve these ingredients, he must extract them from his former allies… the villainous knights of the Order of No Quarter! World class platforming, music, storytelling, and art all return in Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows; an explosive quest with a new play style, new story, new bosses, and more! http://yachtclubgames.com/plague-of-shadows/ Free! For people who bought Shovel Knight, obviously. Which is everyone.
Vemsie
Excellent news. Second best platformer of 2014 (Tropical Freeze being the best).
df0
Excellent. Bought a New 3DS recently and I am all over Shovel Knight. Monster Hunter who?
dug
Awesome! And free as well? That's incredible. This will generate so much good will for Yacht Club Games. I for one will not hesitate to buy any of their future games.

Lovelyman
Free on steam too? Awesome. I finished Shovel Knight in a day. Loved it.
deKay
Surprised Plague Knight was chosen over Shield Knight as a spinoff though.
Textface
Free on Wii U?
deKay
Yes. Free on everything (if you've bought the original Shovel Knight on that platform).
Jamie John
This is great. It'd be refreshing to see mainstream development companies taking this approach to DLC.
df0
To be honest, the project was a Kickstarter and one of the goals was free DLC. Still, I agree with you.
joeplus
Rather surprised Shovel Knight didn't have its own thread, unless I'm a victim of Rllmuk's fantastic search function. Love love love this game, finished it yesterday and just beginning NG+. I made it a lot harder for myself at times - having looked at the achievements, I tried to do some bits without using magic just to train myself for more difficult runs. Daft, but fun. roberthazelby
Nice. Perhaps I'll have to force myself to have another go at the terrible boss rush section again before I start this.
deKay
It's really not that terrible, and I hate boss rushes They're all easier than before as you'll be powered up now, and you can heal completely after each one.
Sir DangerM
I did the boss rush first time, but had real trouble with some bosses the first time around.
Stanley
Started playing this over the weekend. It's quite hard isn't it? And quite brilliant too. Could we change the thread title to say main game discussion?

Stanley
I love it. It's actually more difficult than Bloodborne and has that same rush when you beat a boss. How big is the game? I'm about 5 or 6 bosses in now.
Lorfarius
It's amazing. I suck at it but still....

I'm about 5 or 6 bosses in now. There are 9 main bosses, not including the final boss, but a fair few other mini-bosses and optional areas to keep you entertained along the way. I think it took me around 12 hours to complete, and I probably paid about £12 for it, but it's definitely worth it. I don't think it's too much of a spoiler to say that there's a post-game hard mode, too, but I wasn't man enough to attempt it. Lots of Easter eggs as well! df0
The NG+ is not that much different. So far the only increase in difficulty is losing two hearts per getting hit and much less food drops. If you completed NG, I doubt NG+ gives you insurmountable challenges.
Stanley
I love the simple but perfectly honed mechanics. Great humour in it too, and the graphics/sound are spot on. Can't be positive enough about it
df0
The music is fantastic. Entire soundtrack is on BandCamp.
