I thought it might be used to mask continuity errors or to hide the non-cast members in cars driving behind them.

Only watched the first two episodes so far and to be honest I wasn't expecting that much. It has however really surprised me how good it is and I have to say episode 2's dogging conversation was superb. Especially the final comment by the dog walker. Brilliant.

Yeah I'm really liking this. Probably wouldn't have given it a second glance as I cannot stand Peter Kay (I actually find his face a bit repulsive) but the reaction in this thread convinced me otherwise. Turns out it's short, sweet and pretty fucking funny based on the 4 episodes I've seen so far. Yay!

no. this is actually the set up for the bulk of the shot. I think a producer posted it on twitter.

I'm assuming they wanted all six set ups locked in place so once they started they never had to stop.

Yeah, I heard an interview with Peter Kay where he said they just stuck loads of cameras on the dashboard and filmed continuously while the car was towed around Manchester on a trailer.
