Good lad Peter, the right call

Peter Kay has said there will be no more episodes of TV sitcom Car Share.

Series two reaches its climax on BBC One later, but many fans have already seen the finale on BBC iPlayer and know what happens between John and Kayleigh.

But the star told BBC Radio Manchester there will be no series three and no Christmas specials.

Asked whether John would ever switch from Forever FM to Radio Manchester, Kay replied: "There's not going to be a series three so it won't ever happen."

He added: "You've got to get out while the going's good. No Christmas special, no."

I wasn't sure about the need for a second series, but after a shaky start it turned out well. Loved the safari park and the pissed-up lift home from the party.

Ending spoilers

Spoiler

I thought it was a bizarrely downbeat ending, though. It didn't seem to fit the tone of the show, in my opinion. By all means leave it up in the air, but like that?? I guess I just don't understand characters who can't accept love. Perhaps that really does happen when portly middle-managers get a chance at happiness.

Spoiler

To me, it totally fitted - John wanted to make the gesture (texting the song request) but Kayleigh rushed him.

We saw the fantasy of John climbing over the cars, but real life isn't like that.

Oh, and there's quiche in the fridge.

Yeah nothing special I thought. It just felt like a normal episode but without any story-advancing bits. Rather bland, all told.

But that barbers called 'Mega Cutz' where scissors had cut the 'u' so it looked like 'Mega Clitz' - that can't be real can it?

Probably not but I did see one very similar in Majorca the other year, thought it was on the road into Paguera but can't find it on street view if it was. And that in itself was funnier than anything that happened in the improvised car share, didn't enjoy much as it just dragged on and on. Roll on the "proper" one.

Throughout the series there were a few cutaway shots that had a small visual joke. Near the beginning of the unscripted one there was a bus with "Vengabus" as it's destination/number.

I can't remember any others of the top of my head but remember seeing them.
