There's a road going version of that. Think there's either one or two that actually still drive around now and again.

If I ever win hundreds of millions of pounds, that and a Ferrari 330P4 are going to be my every day cars so I can look cool smashing the front off them over speed bumps at 20mph.

Edit: they weren't as successful as Porsche, but I always loved the Group C era Lancias. Livery definitely helped.

So close to the 24hrs!

Isn't the new Nissan supposed to debut there? Didn't see it at Spa but did see a nice race between Porsche and Audi. What happened to Toyota btw? I didn't watch the whole race at Spa but it looked like the car was off the pace by quite a bit. Did they have technical issues or have they effectively givin' up trying to chase Audi?

Wish i still had those old races from about 4/5 years ago on my HDR. That last year when we still had Saleens en Ford GT's mixing it up with the usual suspects... mmm, i miss them.

I'll be interested to see how it does. As much as I really admire that they've taken a completely unique look at the regulations and come up with something truly different, I can't help but feel they're not going to be anywhere near challenging the other 3 main manufacturers as long as they persist with it.

Let's hope it's got a better fate then the Tri-thingy from Nissan that bounced around the last two years. Looked awesome though, does it partake again this year or has the project's been cancelled?

After all these years I've almost given up hope on a non Audi team winning. The year the Peugeot 908 won it felt a little like the ACO organisation did everything in their power to give them an advantage so the victory never felt really sweet per se. I think the Porsches will be really close this year but am a little bit worried about Toyota's performance after seeing them at Spa. I'll traditionally be watching the 24hrs in my 20 year old Denso Sard motorsports T-shirt so you know who i'm rooting for :eyebrows:

There's no mechanism for it to get an entry this year. You can't enter a garage 56 concept twice iirc.

And yeah, people say F1 has domination, Audi has won 14 of the last 15, the only exception being that 908 win.

I'll be watching the whole thing live, even booked Monday off so here and/or IRC then guys?

Here, there'll only be a few of us here. And we might drag in some of the F1 die hards :)

Here's my take on Le Mans this year;

Porsche for Pole. that I think is a given, isn't it. They clearly have the fastest car over one lap, and I can't see a week link in the driver squads.

The win is a bit difficult to predict. The Mulsanne has to favour the Porches, the run from Arnarge to the ford chicane the Audi's and you make up a lot of time in the twisty bits here. Toyota are on the back foot and will rue the missed win last year.

I'm going to put my money on Porsche 18 and the Dumas/lieb/Jani car for the win

Audi 7 next

Audi 8 last podium.

I think Nissan will lead the race at the end of the first hour. they'll go out to prove a point and break the car. The y will get one car to the flag behind the Toyotas who are going to struggle for speed.

Really wish at least one Nissan will make it to the finish. Would be awesome if the 'go-for-it-and-we-will-see-how it-ends' car ends up leading the race for longer then expected and around midnight Herr Ulrich is seen frowning a new set of wrinkles.

Le Mans really is my favourite single weekend sporting event of the year (suck it Superbowl). I just hope it will be a great battle till the end in all categories (and that race leaders won't be bumped of the track by pink Ferrari's).

I was speaking to one of the Nissan guys at silverstone and they're quietly confident the car is fast enough to keep the others honest. I think they'll get at least one car to the half way mark, what state it'll be in is the key.

I think Toyota are going to be the biggest disappointment this year. The car is so much slower than Audi or Porsche, okay Audi have never won Le Mans with the fastest car but they were always bullet proof. Toyota a re slow and I think still fragile. I'd love them to win, anyone to beat Audi in fact. But I can't get past team Joest and how bloody German they are.

I'm pinning my hopes on Porsche out racing them on the straight bits and holding them off in the corners.

What's the best way to watch highlights of this? I'm looking for a new sport to follow, having become quite disillusioned with football and a touch bored with F1. Was thinking this and BTCC could be the way to go, but don't have the time to watch whole races (who does?).

The deltawing? Nissan parted company from them at the end of 2012, somewhat acrimoniously - there's a lawsuit about it, especially relating to the 2014 car, the Zeod.

Deltawing still races in the US TUSC series, but It's never worked properly.

Highlights:

The series puts out 1-hour highlights shows of the 6hr races onto their app. you have to pay for this (I think) but they turn up on youtube.

MotorsTV usually do a 3-hour highlights show the week after a race.

Is there a YouTube channel that has the highlights after each event? I couldn't find highlights over a couple of minutes last night.

Nissan have been testing the GTR and been forced to deny rumours they'll be racing LMP2 cars.

They did reveal they don't have qualifying tyres but I guess, in a 24 hour race who the hell cares about qualifying. If you outqualify the LMP2s the worst case is you're starting 12th or so.
