Is the broadband adapter useful for modding still. I think I ordered one from lik sang back in the day and it‘s still stuck in my machine. I saw another one for sale so was considering getting it for my brother if it is useful.

Discovered that Etsy has many replacement thumbstick parts for sale, so decided to replace the parts on my GC controllers with chewed-up and discoloured sticks.

Could have just asked... got a bag full of the bloody things :(

Finally getting my room setup and of course the GameCube needs a good home…

A Kallax and the glass shelves (with drawers or boxes underneath for the controllers etc) is a great way to have consoles set up.

Got a sorry looking black gamecube at a car boot sale today, I fancy modding it with an ODE like my Dreamcast and Saturn

I had thought GC Loader was the one to get but now I’ve looked they’re not selling them and their twitter feed is dead.

Is there another one I should go for? Are the ones on aliexpress when I search for GC Loader the same thing?

Best bet is hacked windwaker save to launch Swiss and the a sd2sp2 plugged into ext2 underneath. It’s what I ran for a while.

you do need a larger third party memory card and a copy of windwaker though.

yes I looked into that but I don’t have windwaker.

After a bit of research this evening I’ve ordered a xeno chip, sd2sp2 and Swiss on a disc all for less than a tenner.

I have an OSSC, am I best getting a decent RGB scart cable and using that or am I better using something like the retrobit prism for HDMI from the digital out?

The xeno chip install did not go well

Soldered it quite neatly directly to the board and found that both LEDs on the chip lit up, one red and one orange on constantly which I don’t think is correct and the mini DVD R with Swiss on it would spin but wouldn’t read

Then in my badly thought out attempt to remove the xeno chip to try soldering again this time with wires I’ve ripped the copper contacts off and seems I’ve now ruined the disc drive

Anyone know the best place to buy a properly modded console only?

Console only you say? Might be able to help with that ;)

I have NO idea if these things run back ups though, as all I have to test are USA or JPN region games, on a PAL system of course, but they boot as should :)

They will run backups but sometimes you need to up the laser power a bit to get them to load.

^^^ Indeed.

@Gorf You might just need to tweak the potentiometer. There are voltage values you can aim for if you have access to a multi meter.

After my YouTube feed showed me three new videos promoting the new Picoboot modchip I had to order a Raspberry Pi Pico.

I've got into dabbling with the Game Boy Player again and being able to launch Game Boy Interface without using burned discs or messing with the drive potentiometer to get CD-Rs reading correctly is attractive. That horrible lag on stock GBP software makes everything feel like Hard Mode.

Cool think about this new mod is you can boot different IPLs based on what button you hold when starting the GC. Do you could have one that boots right into GBI and another that launches Swiss.

I've got a few Picos on the way now and one is earmarked for a spare GC.

Put a PicoBoot in a Spice GC I got for free a while back. DOL-101 so no digital out or serial port but looks okay over S-Video on a CRT in my magic shed.

I love the motherboard.

Pretty easy install if take your time. That said on the DOL-101 one of the chips is on the underside near a big plug and awkward if you’re left handed like me.

Noice.

I decided to mount mine in the broadband adaptor port for easy access. Took a little internal case cutting so the wires weren't getting pinched by the controller port assembly.

Quick q.. can you put the port covers back on over these mods? (probably not over the SD2SP2 I guess)

You can put the cover back when tbe SD2SP2 is plugged in.

I can’t see why your have a problem with the BBA cover either.
